Hardwiring Dash Cam Help

hello you all, can I connect dash cam hardwire parking mode to the battery not to the fuse box ? if the fuse box, which once ? 2018 trd pro. just got the

They make battery banks that turn on when key is off. You can plug the dash cam into that, then that battery into the fuse box with a add a fuse system.

if you dont feel like dropping $250+ on a battery, you can use a relay, some wire, a add a fuse and a lawn tractor battery (12 volt). Just wire from the main battery to the relay, then to the lawn tractor battery, trigger the relay with a keyed on circuit. When key is on, power will run from the main battery to the lawn tractor battery (charging it) when the key is off, the power will be cut from the main battery.

This will allow you to have the cam running for parking mode and not worry about draining your starting battery.

 

even hardwired kit with battery drain protection?

 

Drain protection will work on it own. I would stay away from them, but thats because it get below zero where I live for weeks at a time. If you get to the point it turns off the camera due to low voltage, it might still not have enough voltage to start the truck after the cold takes its chunk of power from the battery.

granted if your battery is under 3 years old, it should be just fine. But, I like to take precautions with the cold. Being stranded in the cold with my kids and a dead battery is not a fun time for anyone.
