What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Yeah, mine doesnt fold, but I have used it solo with just one panel in so I could use the rest of the space for storage of gear.

 

So since I managed to ruin my carpet the other week, I decided to use sand colored bed liner (durabak) in place of carpet. I know it's going to be noisier, but I just drove 1,000 miles in it with no carpet and I only wanted to cut my ears off 3 times.

This sound deadening stuff is a bitch to get off, but after some trial and error I found what works best. The scraper tool and BFH, and a wire wheel to get the leftover residue.

Will continue on the other side on Friday when weather is nice, and will likely bed line it on saturday.

 

So the 3 times you are talking about are when you got in, while you were driving and once you stopped?

But in reality it's really not that bad. My truck is noisy enough as it is, and with the rest of the interior in there (seats, floor mats, etc) it helps keep it quieter

 

I bedlined the floor of my 80 Toyota 4x4 running a header with a glass pack and it wasn't horrible. It didn't go fast enough to make much road noise.

 

Taco World has convinced me to switch from Napa 1348 oil filters to the sweet nectar of the Gods Toyota filters. $43 shipped for 10 high quality filters. 50,000 miles worth! Hell to the yeah!!

 

Seal only last soo long. Seen filters fail after sitting on a shelf for 2 years.

As cheap as I got them maybe I’ll change them out every 2,500 miles, lol.

 

I’ve asked this on another forum ad nauseam. Where’s the proof that Yota filter is better than that Napa Gold filter?
Napa Gold filters are a very quality filter. The old made in Japan Toyota filters were very quality filters. The ones now made in Thailand are built differently and I feel it’s a step down from the Napa Gold.

 

What makes you feel it's a step down from Napa Gold?

 

I think it gives some people warm fuzzies when using oem filters. I prefer wix which is the same as napa gold. Just my work is a wix dealer so i get them cheap. Also donaldson.

 

From what I remember, they completely changed the filter media and the drainback flap/function. I’ve seen the inside of a lot of filters and it seems they cheaped out on the Thailand versions.

I can get Yota filters cheaper than Napa Gold. I use the Napa Gold.

I may buy one just to cut it open. At work we usualy look at pleeting and how it was assembled.

 

Cut one of each open and compare, PLEASE!!!! I could be wrong but pretty sure I’m right. It’s been a year or 2 since I last spent time discussing these 2 filters against each other, and they could’ve changed the Thailand version, so I’d REALLY like a side by side. Hell, I might do it myself for shits and grins. I like seeing the inside of filters, catalytic converters, etc.

 

Ash is ash... Whether volcanic, tree, or cigarette. Ever seen a smokers driver side door after they smoke in the rain? Air compressor or leaf blower would be my first attempt as well.

 

Ok will grab 2 one wix one toyota filter. Cut them up i will. N show the difference. The worst filter i ever cut up was fram. Insude they look more like screens than filters.

 

I didn't know if there was a difference or not I thought perhaps valcanic ash may be more acidic which might not bode well with water. Ha, I learned something cool
