    If you need the alignment try taking it to another place for the time being. That's what I did when they said my ITRE were bad

    If there's play in the rack it might not hold an alignment (from my experience)

    @BYJOSHCOOK trying to take advantage of the lifetime alignments at firestone, currently unemployed so don't have the cash to spend on another alignment, unfortunately.

    @Wulf that's what they claim.

    If I pull the driver's tre boot back, should I expect oil to drain out? Never worked on a steering rack before. I've found a lot of info saying up/down movement at the tre/rack is caused by a poorly designed rack guide that was updated in 01.See this tw thread and (in case this can help anyone else)

    Gotcha. You could try Tires Plus as they should take the lifetime alignments from Firestone as well.

    Nothing should come out if you move the boots covering your inner tie rods. Those boots are there to keep contaminants out (water, dust etc).

    If oil comes out of those boots, you've got big problems.

    That confirms I need a new rack then, there's a small amount of oil coming from the driver's side. Thanks.

    Is now a good time to start an oem vs aftermarket debate? :D Considering the napa reman, already have their reman CVs.

    My frame still looks like new and I don't have $2k in back fees and bedsides flapping in the wind.

    You’re talking steering rack still right?

    I think that vatozone mentality only logically applies to CV axles lol. Steering racks aren't so easy to swap out on a whim
