I know it is sacrilege but I use Hondabond wherever Toyota FIPG is called for cause it holds so much better

Usually does, people hate doing the rear main but it's really not that bad even on an auto.

Hondabond and Toyota’s stuff is both made by threebond. The hindabond is just a different color. Factory Toyota looks identical to hondabond. They just use black after factory too let techs know it’s been messed with

So just use that at the front near the timing cover then. Got it.

You’ll see the spot. The rubber gasket looks different there too. It’s a thin line you’ll see. The old gasket will be there, scrape it off. The when your done let it sit for an hour before you start it

Is the Toyota stuff still made by threebond? I switched cause I thought they switched formulas like Mitsushitty did, maybe I just had a bad tube of it

Burning is their big issue. Rare for the rear main to leak

It’s still three bond. Big thing is people don’t wait to put oil in. Or they use the black where orange should be. And for coolant there’s a different black fpig. (It’s 80 for a tube though)

Best to wait 10 min at least for fpig to cure a bit. 1hr is a good point. 24 hr is 100% if you can wait that long

    5100's and OME 881's, AAL and KM3's
5100's work just fine on the front with stock springs, in the rear most 5100's need a small AAL

Yeah I read about that too. Im only going off what my stealership claimed. The only leak I saw was in the spark plug tubes, the rear main area looked dry to me.

    So this stuff? Screenshot_2018-11-14-21-01-17.jpg
Im seeing 9ft lbs on the valve cover bolts, that sound correct? Ill be able to wait an hour or more to start it as I plan to do this on my Christmas break. Rookie question, but I dont need to drain the oil to do it, do I?
