Ha then youre good to go Hodge-but when that equipment goes into Will's truck, there will be a need to retune it to match the groundplane of his truck body-maybe. Or we may luck out and it will be in the tolerance:)

Will, SWR is "standing wave ratio"-basically, a CB antenna is cut to a length within a tolerance for the 27MHZ band of frequencies. Within that antenna is a movable small whip to 'fine tune' that antenna down to optimal SWR match of the coax feedline to transmitter. Thats where the meter comes in:) (basically SWR is the wave coming from the radio with relation to the antenna's height off the ground, position on the truck <groundplane>) If the SWR is too high-it feeds back into the transmitter and can fry the final coils! But since the CB antennas are a certain length, most guys can get away with just installing and operating without a proper match-but are doing so at a substantial loss of transmit power.
I think you, Will, deserve to have the setup that really TALKS!!!!

thankx, if your guys radio bezel area is the same, it works well, but from my understanding, its pretty much only this radio (cobra 18wxII) that works do to the size, and the front firing speaker, even though I added an extra (louder) one.

if it comes down to it, for room purposes, i may mount mine in the bottom center console, but i really havent looked at any mounting places yet, so im still unsure of that detail.

That's where I plan on mounting mine whenever I get around to it (classes are kicking my ass right now.) I think due to the size of the one you plan on getting it would look best there.

does yours have an eyeglasses holder up above the rearview mirror ? Ive thought about moving the CB up there, due to wanting to get a double DIN stereo/nav unit. just a thought :)
