I'm not a fan of the design above personally. ARB makes one that wraps the frame a little and bolts in on two axis that is very likely beefier but you pay for it.

I was going to ask why people feel the need to change from the existing. Not criticizing, but legitimately curious.

The stock recovery hook on the front of TRD OR and Pro trucks is a cast open hook with only two bolts connecting it to the truck. On the rest of the lineup there's just a simple tie down loop there which I'd trust even less. Perfectly suitable for a light tow but completely inadequate for a dynamic recovery or winching. In both kinds of recovery there's a considerable load on the connection point and needs something far more solid and better tied to the vehicle. Of the commercially available recovery points the ARB one is the only one I've seen that I'd actually trust with my life.

Y’all say that, but I recovered the shit outta a truck off of the welded hoop on the drivers side. It was a prerunner we took out and constantly had to hook a snatch strap up to him to pull him up hills, over obstacles, and through mud.

A shackle pin fits through it if you thread it from the bottom.

Not saying you shouldn’t upgrade, but gotta give some credit to that welded hoop point.

That setup would seriously degrade your approach and departure angles...

Slightly less intrusive to approach than it looks and is also a disposable first contact point and still higher than the pumpkin.

Not sure what has me laughing more... the fact that this exists or the fact that apparently there are people who buy it. Reminds me of those fake cell phone antennas guys were sticking on their cars back in the 90s.
