Hi all, I'm looking at getting a 2010 with the TRD OffRoad package, because I can't justify paying for the Sport and not getting any of the features of the OffRoad (extra traction controls, locker, etc). However, I don't really like chrome, so I was looking up the Toyota parts I need to get the TRD Sport "look".

    So far I have:

So I'm assuming the only things I would need aside from those are a scooped hood and a color matched rear bumper.

This looks to be like just the painted part of the bumper if you look at the illustration, and I assume that "w/street pkg" is color matched? I'd appreciate a heads-up on this. I imagine I can just take the old bumper off and bolt all the supports and such onto this new piece?

And for the hood, do the OEM hoods come unpainted from the factory? There's no color options shown on this page. So I would have to buy the hood and then have it painted at a body shop or something?

Thanks for any info you guys can come up with on this!

I think you will also need the front grill. Sport has it color matched but I believe Off Road is chrome.

PS - Skip the cost of a new hood with paint job. This will set you back some real $. The scoop is nice looking but unfunctional.

Oh right, I forgot to copy in the grille link. I was wondering the same thing with the hood. $300 for the hood doesn't sound too bad but I bet having it painted would set me back quite a bit... That's why I was wondering whether or not it is already painted (I assume not).

    Why not just go to:

    www.automotivetouchup.com

order your paint code in a spray can, remove the parts, spray them up, clear coat them, and it will have only cost you $100

^^ Just my .02c btw, if you want go ahead and spend the money, I just cant justify spending that much on color matched parts when you can put in your own labor. Much more rewarding doing it yourself too IMO.

The only (possible) issue I have is parts I've spraypainted in the past don't hold up very well... They've chipped and scratched easily and fade a lot faster with the sun and washing the truck. Maybe it's just my lack of technique or cheap spraypaint... For $100 that's definitely a better option though if it holds up as well as the OEM part.

If you do the proper preparation with primer (2-3 light coats) then paint (2-3 coats) and clear coat everything (1-2 coats) you should be fine. I have never had a problem with my junk ive painted. Mostly just the grill, but it does see alot of rocks and bugs from highway driving. Mine still looks great

But i do understand that its much less of a hassle to just buy them in the right color...

to each there own! GL with your decision...

Yep, that's in my original post :) Both side mirrors are about $300 OEM color matched.

I painted my grill (used to be chrome to BSP), mirrors, headlights, all myself...:D

luckily my friend owns a shop that does painting a lot...so he let me borrow their paint booth and let me lay down my own paint...I just had to buy the paint and clear from him...

that's the cheapest route I could go...so I did it...

I bought cheapo chrome mirror covers off ebay, sanded, applied adhesion promoter, and painted and they have held up perfect for a year now. Cost me about $40 total.

As for the hood, you can get aftermarket for about 100 bucks, and the scoop parts are about another 80 or so, plus about 200 to paint. OEM hood is about 6-700. The rear bumper I do not believe comes painted either, so that'll probably be another 500.
