We have Body panels and you hit the nail on the head with the rocks and trees as side protection not just underneath protection. There are Jeep sliders similar to ours and I've seen a lot more of those. Again their tubing doesn't stick out as far because their body panels are flat where ours the widest point is midway up the side.
I'm not 100% sure but I think there is going to be a pretty custom set of sliders made with ~25* kick up angle and around 1.5-2" inboard of what the typical slider is to hug the body more like the Jeeps do it. But still will have a slight kickout.

I actually think this would be fine I mean unless you're extremely off camber the only thing you'll hit on your door is a tree and that can be prevented. Most of your rocks and other obstacles are right at rocker panel height so I don't see why it wouldn't provide enough protection. I would be interested in trying it out. Bent my passenger rocker panel at AOAA.

Gf's jeep came with the single round tube rock slider and it seemed solid enough to drag the weight of the truck across the top of rocks.

I also have a question for you guys.

I want to install a light bar in my front grill area. I would install it in the lower valence but I hope to get a slimline bumper there eventually and it would have to be moved. So instead of there I could put one behind the grill. The way the 12-15 grill is setup I have room to put two 7" lightbars.

    1. Where would be the better place to mount it?

    Here?

    or here?

The lower section beter places to make mounts work and would be perfect. I would look into the BD s2 pods lots of output and small enough to not block a lot of airflow to the radiator

I think it’s because the side of our trucks have a slight curve to them and the slider sticks out a little further than the furthest point. I know I’ve been saved a few times by my sliders when I slid sideways into a tree. It helped prevent a nice dent in my door.

    This picture sorta represents that

I was thinking about adding those to my roof rack for camp lights. One on each side and two on the back. Either that or rigid scene lights

I think BD makes some in the scene lighting

That’s still way too much. I know the tried and true “you get what you pay for” but I’d be sick as hell if I broke one of those. I’d rather break a $25 light than a $200 light. I mean I know the light is better but I feel with a spot pattern and what I’m using it for I can go cheaper and be fine.

Thats why there are tall and skinny tires, but most people want the fat tire look for the mall. I'll give you guys feedback next spring when i'll have 235's on the truck. Mind is pretty set on Wildpeaks At3's right now
