I hate that I'm even having to consider this, but my brand new truck seems to have some odd vibrations. Steady speed between 20-30, and between 55-60, i get a mild vibration i feel it in the gas peddle mostly i think. Slowing down between 20-30 is a different worse set of vibrations that feel like something is unbalanced.

I have around 350 miles on it. Is it still breaking in? Bad or unbalanced tire? Something not torqued? I'm guessing a trip to the dealer is in my future but I'm not looking forward to it with the holidays coming up.

What do you experts think? Am I fucked?

Most threads like this get about 20 posts in then the OP finally tells us about the spacer lift and 33" tires. Is your truck bone stock?

Sounds like an out of round or unbalanced tire. Just take it in and tell them they need balanced.

Do you really think someone on a forum is going to be able to diag a vibration? You will have a dozen members saying its this or that, my truck does it and the dealer won't fix it. When you do finally settle on what answer is close are you going to go in and say to a Toyota tech "I heard on a forum that it's probably this". They really like that.

Just take it in and have someone look at it.

We have sympathy for the inconveniences of a dealer visit but that's really the best option. If it happens both under acceleration and while coasting it is unlikely driveline related. A tire is most likely but overtorqued lugs and a few other things are also possibilities.

You don't want to fix it yourself though. You want it documented so if something happens later you have evidence in your favor.

So should I just not post on the forum? Isnt this the place for questions and discussion? I wasnt looking for a diagnosis, but I like to be informed. Maybe someone had the exact same issue, maybe someone has a TSB they found. That way when the service people bullshit me I am at least an informed owner somewhat. Or should I just blindly trust everything a dealership tells me?

I give it 5% its out of balanced tire/slipped belt 95% its just how the truck drives...
it didn't do it while you test drove it because NEW SHINY! why would I look for problems on a new truck.
you go to the dealer ask them to balance the tires.. it doesn't fix it. you get mad and are convinced there is a problem with your truck that has around 350 miles on it.
drive it and wait for something NOT to break...

Multiple times a week I drive with new Silverado owners. bla bla bla I spent enter what they didn't pay on this and its broke. with 100-9000 miles. it shouldn't do it. you and the other 100000 people that bought the same truck. its not broke it just drives like that. its not a unicorn they do weird shit! bring it back when it doesn't move! then its broke!

My new Tacoma came to me mis-aligned. Not only a bad alignment but staring was off center. I was told that the factory only calabraits the alignment machine every few days. Or the vehicle gets jacked somewhere during delivery. I know a guy who always got his new car/truck realigned a day or two after leaving the Dealer. And every time the alignment was out of spec.

my truck also started with vibration around 500 miles, vibrates/trembles,rumble strip type feeling when slowing and at constant speed of around 20 to 25. its not terrible but noticeable and seems to get a little worse the further truck in driven, truck has 3800 miles on it now, will get them to check it out at the 5k service...wondering if it could be needle bearing even though truck is stock.

Sounds very similar, around 25-27 mph seems the be the worst. I'm having it checked on Tuesday.

Yeah your truck shouldn't drive like that. Have the tires balanced. I went to buy a new tacoma truck a while back and it had a vibration. I told them to fix the vibration and I would buy it. It is weird that a new truck will have issues, but sometimes they do. They fixed it pretty quick and I bought it also.

So you intend to blindly trust what strangers on an internet forum say?

Yes I searched and only found info for 2016 models with 4wd.

No I don't blindly trust strangers on the internet, or at the dealership. So multiple data points serves to paint a better picture.
