    Hey guys,

So I'm ready to pull the trigger on a new 2019 Tacoma.

I love everything about the truck except the seat and the seating position.

I'm 6'2 with a longer torso so finding the "right seating position" has never been
more difficult than it has been for me in this truck.

For those that went through the same thing...have you guys had discomfort at
first, then the seat broke in, etc...or your body adjusted to the driving position?

6'4" 250 lb. Our definition of comfort is never going to be the same. For reference, I made 100% sure I was totally comfortable in the drivers seat before buying. I can drive 10+ hours with no issues.

I'm not sure the seating in comfortable in these at any height. At 5'10" I find them to be the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in - and the seat height is way too low.

I love the truck, but the seating leaves a lot to be desired. If the seats were more bucketed and sat a couple inches higher, they would be infinitely better, IMO.

Agreed...if these had 4Runner style seats...it'd be something I would buy and drive until the wheels fall off. I wonder why Toyota did this, vs just spending an extra $500 per car to have better seats.

I find the biggest issue, because of the lack of bucketing and how low the seats sit, my butt constantly slides forward, so I'm regularly having to slide myself back into the seat. Drives me nuts.

For the life of me, I can't imagine how folks at Toyota sat in these seats, at the current seating position, and thought they were acceptable. lol

I would legit pay $5,000 MORE for this truck if it had 4Runner seats or Highlander seats...

Because every single ass is different. They fit 25K asses every month. They don't fit yours but don't assume they are uncomfortable for everyone.
I take up the whole seat. The whole seatback and pretty much the whole space from the center console to the door is filled with me from roof to carpet. I am a big guy and I test drove a ton before buying because it's hard to find a seat that fits. The 4Runner seats fit me too. My wife's Highlander seat is not comfortable to me. Go figure.

Dude, the seating discomfort and positioning is an EXTREMELY common complaint with these trucks. Probably the most common after transmission complaints.

It's not just my ass. These are not widely comfortable seats. Most of this could be remedied, though, if they'd actually put proper seat adjustments in their $40k trucks.

The most important thing you really need in a vehicle? The seat because it can literally be a pain in the posterior. If you don't like it today, the odds are you won't like it tomorrow.

I had an 09 and now have an 18. The seat is fine for me.

If you don't like the seat, can you afford to correct an expensive mistake?

Seat comfort is the biggest issue for me as well. 6’2” 190lbs. You can never really know what it will be like to drive for 6 hours by sitting in the dealer parking lot or going for a test drive. The argument that I or someone else should’ve made sure the seat was comfortable prior to buying is lame. Quit paddling your douche canoe. These are the type of comments that detail threads and add no value to TW.

I find myself having to slide myself back frequently too, also 5'-10"

What, 50 people on a forum with no accountability? C'mon man. They have sold 750K of these. We would see hundreds of threads if it was a widespread complaint.

I'm 6 5 and while they arent the most comfortable seats in the world I've found a combination that is decently comfortable

Right...1st test drive for me was ok, but it was a real bad storm (rain) so I couldn't really feel the truck out. Came back again and did a long test drive.

Now mind you, on the 2nd test drive (I drove 2 hours to this dealer to do it). My back didn't hurt one bit from getting there.

After test driving the truck for 25 mins, I get out and lower back hurts.

Big part of me still wants to buy it, because I love everything about it...except that am I going to start hating it after a while due to the shitty seat.

Show me the tens of thousands of complaints then. Something that statistically will matter to Toyota. They are not here. They are not on facebook. They are not on any of the consumer complaint forums. I understand some don't fit and that's just going to happen, but not widespread.
People think that just because they have a problem that everyone else has that problem too. Human nature.

I'm going by frequency of complaints. The seat discomfort is always at the top of the list of complaints about the truck. Yeah this forum is only a small percentage of owners, but that doesn't change anything.

Are you being serious right now? Yeah this site is not all Tacoma owners, but it's a large sample size - The seats discomfort is a regular complaint, after probably only the transmission. A high percentage is a high percentage - and this site as MORE than enough members to be a decent sample size.

Going by frequency of general complaints on here we’d all assume the 3rd gen is a lemon, yet that is not the case now is it?

lol while largely true, the frequency in relation to other complaints still has the seats right near the top.

How are you guys finding yourselves sliding forward? I don't get it. My ass must be different. 6' - 185lbs. No issues at all. Not even enough to think this is any better or any worse than any other seats.

Other than my girlfriend setting the lumbar in her infiniti for hunchback mode...
