I don't do it myself but I can understand why some people do. Ya in 'real' life people can see your plate plain as day driving around town or parked on the street...but all it takes is some jealous lunatic or eco-terrorist prius driving psycho with an internet connection (of which there are many) to see your truck with your plates on it and who knows what they might do. Especially if you're someone who is active on any one or more public internet forums...people tend to lose their shit over the smallest differences in opinion and it just takes one crazy person with enough free time to make life miserable.

that said, I still don't do it but it's mostly because I'm too lazy to lol

yeah if those are indeed standard Dakars it has to be due to the difference in weight between a 4cyl regular cab and a DC or xtra cab v6...that's probably twice as much lift as the std Dakars gave me

A lot of it is for my Retrofit headlights. HID ballast, Switchbacks, RGB Halo modules, etc.

The other stuff is for my subwoofer, power door system, CB Radio, PA system, Caddilac horns, and KC lights.

I ripped a lot of it out, shortened, and loomed the harnesses.

I swapped an 02 cab onto my 01 chassis so the wiring was already in the body harness under the driver seat so all I had to do was repin at the large K connector by the glovebox and at the ecm to make it work. I'd just extend the wiring and plumbing you have under the hood back to a 02-04 canister and tank.

Maybe after I get the bumpers and armor done.

CS018R Dakar pack is specific to 95-97 standard cab. I wonder if you got a bad set.

How’d you deal with the different VIN?

New VIN and title with the cab, Easy.

I sold my 01 with a clean title, the buyer just got most of a cab with a VIN.

nah it was good but I also have some weight in the bed. We have different part numbers between our trucks for them so maybe that's why

Most of a cab? So the original cab was damaged I assume?

Nothing wrong with the cab besides being to small for a family of 4. A lot of parts were sold before hand like a door, HVAC, seats. I took the inner fender aprons and header panel off to swap to the Double cab.

It’s the translucent plastic ring. Been so long since I pulled it that I don’t remember.

Ok i may just run to the yard tomorrow and see what they got. Supposedly the bigger plastic bezel piece is harder to find than the key light itself. I found a write up on using one from a 97-01 camry that needed a slight dremelimg to work. If it doesnt work, ill get back with ya.
