Since my teacher moved my tests from this week to Monday and Tuesday next week I wont be able to make it anymore. Since I am on the brink of failing both of these classes I need to buckle down and study hard for these test so I dont fail lol. I know a few people expressed interest in going. I believe @Large BajaBlast and @113tac said they wanted to go

I know it's twice the price, but the Stihl MS-261 is, in my opinion, more than twice the saw. Stihl has certainly fallen from what it was 20+ years ago, but I'm still pretty dedicated. Have heard great things (from people I trust on the subject) about Husqvarna saws too, but haven't had the pleasure to run one.

Stihl or Husqvarna from a local shop (ie not a big box store) will do you well.

Alternatively, if you already have Milwaukee or Dewalt 18/20 volt lithium ion batteries, they both offer electric chain saws.

I’m another vote for stihl. I’ve never used an echo chainsaw but have used other echo tools and compared to the “equivalent” stihl version stihl always had way better quality.

Yup, I have a Stihl and love it.

As a side note, anyone interested in a set of 5 - 3rd Gen Off Road wheels? I'm going to throw them up online this weekend for sale but I'll cut someone a deal here. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. I also have an OR recovery hook and fog lights that are on the block.

I work in heavy construction. Earthwork, site prep, underground utilities, that shit. We do our own clearing typically, but that is a very small piece of what we do. Our +/- 5 saws go through very long periods of dormancy. Sitting in the shop for a year + sometimes. Then they are pulled out and get the everloving piss worked out of them, by non-professional operators (not saying our guys don't know how to run a saw, just saying that's not why they were hired to do or what they do on a daily basis.) That's a pretty tough life for a saw. And like I said, there has been a turn down in quality over the last 15-20 years, but we still buy exclusively Stihl saws. We typically only have to replace them when they are mangled beyond repair. Usually, a tree or one of the big Cat's ends up on top of them. A few are living cozy retirement lives at my house or foreman's houses. The one I took home is 22+ years old.

TL;DR. I like Stihl saws, and holy fuck do I love talking about chainsaws.:sawzall:

Like @SportsmanJake said, an 18v or 20v cordless saw may be a great option if you're just looking for something to keep on the truck for wheeling. A lot less of a pain in the ass than a nasty gas saw covered in gas and oil. Not to mention having to lug around mixed gas.

I have a 12” 20v dewalt and it’s a beast. I’ve cut many a fallen trees with that bad boy. It’s saved my ass quite a few times.

Not sure you quoted the right post there. I sent @Alex122 over this way because I saw he posted on the main page looking for places to wheel in NOVA. Said he had just moved up y'alls was from Jawgia.
