didnt realize you had the URD setup. how do you like the rotrex? ive read a lot of threads where they have issues with breaking the shaft (granted at the limit). quantam engineering down in AUS was pushing it to the limits on a honda. had to run twin throttle bodies in the end. he went tvs 2.3L and never looked back.

    huge read but good

    https://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?p=2908065#/topics/86410?page=160

    tvs vs rotrex: https://mercracing.net/tvs-supercharger-kit-faqs/500hp-from-a-supercharged-honda-sure-heres-two/

im sure the 1gr is a bit more in-efficient but this is what the 2.3L whipple should be comparable to power wise

It was great while it worked. Low end wasn’t comparable to the roots but once your moving 60km/hr+ it’s going!
But everyday I’d pray it didn’t break as they were unreliably rebuildable and a new unit was going to be nearly 4K CDN. If you had the smaller c30-94 units, those things were indestructible. I was overspinning it for 4 abusive years and no issues. Owning the rotrex meant most of my support and forum cruising was thru the boosted K-series, BRZ/Frs, miata guys. And that link you attached I’ve more than likely read it over a few times lol.
The issue with the failure of the c38-91 snapping of the shaft is mostly been proven to be more exclusively tied to the k-series engine, something to do with the high engine revs and how it would snap so quickly in which puts a lot of torque/shock on the shaft. With sooo many more owners with our roots blower and thus the knowledge and support as the byproduct, it was a nice and welcome change. This thread is a testament to that. Very satisfied with the trd blower so far! But as we all know we want more lol

Which Tactrix cable did you buy? I have to reflash my OEM ECU to the TRD SC "cuw" tune before I can use the handheld.

Wait a sec, you have to load the TRD tune before you can use the OVtune?

Nah, no fluid to speak of. It's a small unit. Just unbolt it and go!

probably did read that thread then, lol. thats odd the rotrex was more related to the k-series. they do rev fast though. i was eyeing the tvs1900 for my K but i think fwd will be a bit excessive (plus i want to sell the car now). LS e36 is my next "build". which may or may not get put on hold if the whipple comes to the tacoma.

might need to turn my truck into a "street" truck....:burnrubber:

Haha I turned my daily/weekend off-road warrior into a garage queen, pavement kisser. Always loved E36’s! Prolly the last true m3 to me, the e30 m3 being my fav.

the truck isnt really my daily anymore but i use it when it isnt just me. 35s & stock gears suck the acceleration out though. LT and small tires might look odd though.

    i have a 92 325i sedan. should be fun with a LS and ~400hp like i want.

That's what I was told. Can't say I'm very happy about that. Might just stay UCON now.

That's what I had to do - get the TRD calibration in order to use the OVTune SC handheld. I think it has something to do with the TRD tune calibration actually expanding the tables in the stock ECU, whereas OVTune's SC tune was developed from those larger tables (I believe the TRD tune was his starting point) and they can't be expanded via just the handheld if you still have a stock calibration.

all he said was different engine. may update in the future.

which do the 1GRs not share the same intake manifold between the two? if so then the supercharger itself should fit.

Wow that kinda sucks. So you'll end up having $600 bucks in the tuner, plus a $180 for a cable and have to source and install the TRD tune? Seems like a lot of work and money for 20HP. Especially if you already have the UCON, like Rufus does.
