Winterizing my '12

Hey all-new to this and tbh I don't know shit about trucks...
I just moved from CA to AK and needless to say, it's COLD! I've read a bit on here about people trying to winterize their Tacos and it seems there is some trouble dealing with the installation in the 12s. Any tips/ ideas? It gets down to like, -30 F here in the winter so I need to have my bases covered.

are you planning on doing the work yourself? if not might be better taking it to a service place and tell them you need to have the truck serviced to deal with an Alaska winter

 

Where in AK?
I'd do the OEM engine block heating element, -50 washer fluid and maybe a new battery. I'd really want to make sure to have *good* gas. Ethanol or not so long as it was top tier.

 

My dude is going to do it....trying to save money and just get the parts. But I have been reading that a few gave up because it was such a pain in the ass, and ended up taking it into the dealership to have it done. Just trying to get some feedback and tips if possible

You can find most of that at the store in Tok.

Get your coolant checked for freeze protection to -50°F and flush/fill if required. Drain your washer fluid and refill with -40°F fluid. Silicone spray your rubber door seals and squirt some deice fluid in your door lock cylinders.
