Don't think this is a warranty issue. The Philips 4300K seem tto be the problem overall. What a waste to spend an additional $45 to get the Philips to have to spend another $44 to get the 5000K.

Pulsing and fluttering due to shaking sounds like a defect to me. If the seller gets a bunch of returns, the manufacturer would certainly need to address the situation. Leaving the end customer holding the bag is not a solution.

XenonDepot seems like an excellent company with great customer service. They seem genuinely concerned about this. I am not sure about Philips.

Well, let's see if @XenonDepot will credit me the $45 I paid for the Philips and send me the 5000K bulbs.

Let me know how that goes for you, i'm going through the same thing as you are. Frustrating to say the least, i just spent another $45 to get the normal 5000k bulbs. They are supposed to arrive tomorrow. I will let everyone know if they no longer have the "Philips shake"

    Guys:

There is no specific issue with "Philips" bulbs. This "flutter" or "shake" has been referenced on this forum with XenonDepot branded bulbs, our Philips rebased bulbs, and other branded HID kit bulbs over the years.

Please note - we are not on here telling people to purchase the non-Philips bulbs as a "solution" or "fix" for any potential flutter - as we've had people on this board mention a "shake" with the non-Philips bulbs as well. If this is something that an existing customer would like to try, please PM us, and we will certainly do our best to work with existing customers.

I'm not doubting that a shake or flutter is potentially visible with the Tacoma, but I do want to state that this "shake" or "flutter" has only been isolated to the Tacoma -- not any other vehicle that uses an H11 bulb (which is our most popular seller). If there was a bulb specific problem we would be seeing this across all other vehicles that use an h11 bulb, and other forums/groups that we participate in - and we don't.

Try this trick, used to do it early on with certain HID bulbs. Find an old 9005 or 9006 bulb and steal the rubber seal off. Install on the H11 as shown. This may work in taking the shake out of the bulb.

May go find a cheap pair of these bulbs and give it a try before I dump my HIDs. I'll report back if I do or not.

    Thanks for the tip.

I installed the 5000k bulbs to replace the 4300k Philips bulbs that started to have the shake after having them installed for 11 months, around month 9 they started to shake, guess what, did 2 hours of driving last night straight, ZERO shake with the 5000k bulbs, its not the headlamp, it's not a thicker o-ring, its the bulb!

Where are the old bulbs and what tests did you do to check them? Do the capsules wiggle on the bases? Are they loose? What do the seals look like? Are they worn from the heat? Pics to support your statement?

My test was installing the new 5k bulbs from Xenon Depot and driving the truck at night for hours. The capsules don't wiggle. The seals are the brand new thicker o-rings Xenon Depot sent to me for free to see if it would fix the shake.

Sounds like a very thorough evaluation of the “shaking” bulbs to determine the cause. :smack:

Well you did get 9 months of no shaking out of the Philips bulbs. 2hrs on the 5000k bulbs is not a real comparison.

I’ve had my 4300 Philips now for around 3 months and zero issues. Love them, best upgrade I’ve done. Hopefully they stay trouble free.

I agree, the Philips bulbs were great for 9 months, then out of no where they started the shake. Installed new 5000k bulbs, no shake. So the Philips bulb are defective or thats just how they become after hours of use. Maybe my new 5000k bulbs will do the same thing in months time, i hope they don't, cause these are the best lighting i have found. I went with Xenon Depot cause i had read back in January people were having the shake with the Morimoto HIDs and people were saying at that time Xenon Depot didn't. i'm not here to trash Xenon Depot, just sharing my experience with the product, pretty much what forums are for, at least thats how we do it in the Mustang forum world.
