I have 1500 miles on mine since I did the TSB and it still drives as weird as it did before. I went into town the other day, a 5 mile trip on a winding 2-lane road. Felt like I had a parachute behind the truck, it took a lot of pedal just to go 55mph. Finally I got so PO'd I hammered the throttle and bounced it off the rev limiter multiple times. The next day it made the same trip to town and felt completely normal. I guess I "learned it." lol But I know it will go back to it's weaksauce ways. My old SR5 4.0 is still sitting on the dealer lot, I'm about to go get it back...

I just wonder if for any reason you have a non-stock rear end gear ratio? I hear your sorrow.....so happy with my Tacoma.

You mean like i had the gear ratio changed, or Toyota sent it out with a random ratio?

Sadly I have not made any modifications to the drive train and wish I could say the same about my Tacoma. I think the truck looks absolutely gorgeous, it’s the only car I’ve wanted since my 98 4 cylinder manual..

Not sure but maybe it’s the city traffic driving that creates this condition. If I drive on weekends, and am in no hurry to get anywhere, based on the feeling in the pedal when these issues occur, I can still tell the transmission is a little confused, but because I’m not trying to accelerate as aggressively it seems to balance out the effect..so yeah maybe I notice it because of the way I drive some of the time.

That being said, for the folks that drive mellow all the time, it would be terrible if the same delay happened when they really needed the vehicle to move in a bad situation..

You didn't even try driving your prospective $40K investment out on a freeway? That's just dumb.
Safety issue? Bring your reports of all the traffic crashes and deaths from the trans not going from 5th to 6th to prove how unsafe it is.
As far as your last statement goes, you sound EXACTLY like the person you say you're not. Go sue a company cause your truck doesn't shift like you want it to. Call all the government places you can think to say that the MPG isn't as advertised on YOUR vehicle. Cry to the top guys to get your voice heard. Sue companies to get your trophy.
anyway, was just trying to give you a better platform to go get people to join your "cause"

It’s giving pretty much what is advertised on label. I don’t baby it either. 21 k miles in 8 months.

I had the same thoughts regarding my diff howl. Service techs confirmed the sound, applied the TSB, it didn't fix the howl, and then corporate says it's normal.... but... they issued a TSB. To fix the problem. But it's not a problem. It's normal. Huh?

It was like going in circles. I hope they get the trans fixed and diff howl resolved. I'd love to get back into a Tacoma. But I'm not taking another chance until these things are addressed.

Update: It drove a lot better up a steep incline. The uphill was about 30 minutes. It seemed to hold the gears longer. No more downshifting into 3rd for a half a second then back to fourth. Also I noticed it downshifts sooner when pressing on the gas pedal. Drives better overall. I liked the update.

    That is all.

With so many effected trucks, this should be a recall not just a tsb.

I just got an update while I was at the dealer today and it also says EG1810. So that translates to TSB-0062-18?

I have a 2018 AT Off Road, is there a cumulative TSB update that incorporates all the previous transmission issues to date, or alternativley, if they are separate TSBs that apply to my 2018, how do I discern which updates are relevant ?

They'll do whatever the most recent update is. That covers everything. They'll probably do 58 for you unless you're at altitude, but it's the same exact "software" as 62.

So, it's been about 3 weeks now, and my experience has improved a bit with the TSB reflash.

Initially, I experienced the vehicle stumble mentioned in TSB 62-18, but at lower speeds and not at elevation. I also experienced lack of power generally when not in ECT mode and poor throttle response, which are not specifically addressed by either TSB. Very happy as of right now, and not running in ECT at all.

After the reflash, things seemed better on the drive home from the dealership, but my commute was definitely not improved a few days in. Throttle seemed even more laggy in some circumstances and while the stumble wasn't there anymore, it seemed to be replaced by a slow gradual acceleration.

Then after about a week, things got much better. No stumble, no lag and generally good throttle response with minimal unnecessary gear movement. Occasionally, I haver to floor it to get the response I need, but this is much fewer and farther between than previously.

My guess is that the reflash caused the learning program to reset, and it took a little while for the computer to relearn my driving habits. Or, some other calibration of that system. Either way, I just thought I'd amend my last post with an update.

not only does my 20k mile truck stumble ... if I press the pedal rapidly while doing about 25-35 mph the first 2 presses gives me a lurch but sometimes the 3rd and 4th punch at the gas pedal gives no lurch and the engine rpm rises quickly past 3000 rpm with no lurch as if the transmission is in neutral

This happens on or off road and with ECT on or off

This happens in high traffic driving mostly

    Anyone else experiencing this ?
