When my truck was new it flat out refused to go into Reverse, it took to about 7 or 8k miles before it loosened up.

Anyway to DISABLE hill assist on my 2019 MT?? Nothing in Toyota operators manual.

I kinda' like and dislike it. Awfully odd the first couple times you expect to roll-back . . . .

It went away once or twice with AutoLSD on, but lately, it is always on?

I do not believe that I saw any option in TechStream and there is nothing about it in Carista.

Well, only "on" when senses some numerical degree incline/decline I suppose. I'm simply curious if it can be disabled.

Yep! It will roll back on gentle slopes. You also need to be on the brakes pretty well for it to store enough pressure.

There is nothing that I found that can permanently turn it off.

But in my rough estimation as a person that likes manual controls on anything possible, it is saving at least 1/3 of the wear no matter how good you are?

I feel the exact same thing from 1-2. It's as if the blocker ring on the synchro is not effectively blocking the shift before the speeds are sync'd. Not sure if it's typical or not. I asked the dealer during my first 5k service and they said "No TSB available for notchiness". The rest of my upshifts and all downshifts (including 3-2) feel fine. I bought my last stick tacoma with >50k miles on it, but I never felt that much crunch between 1 and 2 or any gears.
Someone on a previous thread recommended very quick shifts from 1-2 (before the rpms drop by 200-300). That does seem to help most of the time. I plan to not worry about it until the end of the warranty.

a bit weird when getting familiar with it, but it's a nice feature. I agree, Matt from OV might have some insight into how to turn the hill assist off

I most definitely don't have Hill Assist on my truck?!? I have been backing down a hill every time I had to leave the place I was renting for the last month, I can 100% assure you the truck was rolling down every time I left the foot off the brake when shifting into 1st.

Try double clutching helps timing gears better, or half clutching. Heck who uses a clutch once rolling anyways.

I -think- I saw that the Sport has it and Pros don't. Can't confirm at all though.

It isn't an $800 problem to me. Rev hang and engine breaking never got attention. I don't see that getting a look either.

What others have said. It think it has something to do with the vacuum boosters that the OR and Pro don't have?

It would certainly be odd to have hill assist. Out of curiosity how did you get a Double Cab Long Bed with a Manual?

LoL! You might want to check your profile setup, 'cause that question ain't gonna stop given the unicorn status of that build.
