That was the first AR-15 I had ever seen. “You mean you can BUY those???”

I was pretty tickled about that.

They're needing to recoup some shoppers. I don't remember the year, but they were allowed to raise prices to be competitive with local businesses. We were living in San Diego when the prices on a lot of items went up. While there's still no tax it didn't make it worth the trip to pay for gas just for not paying tax.

They can't complete with the buying power of the big box stores that didn't exist 30 years ago. I'm heading to the local Navel Reserve Base for Black Friday weekend. Saw an ad for 20% off firearms. Have my eye on an over under 12 gauge.

Oh yes, some of the sales are pretty good. We'll hit the base every now and then if it's a decent sale. The base here has a few guns but they aren't very flexible. We have a gun shop in town that has plenty or room to play with prices. A couple others will drop their prices within $10 of them but I rarely see the exchange get that close. So if it's a decent deal and no tax it would be worth the drive across town.

We might hit the store twice a year but it has to be a sale and a big enough ticket item that makes the tax free worth it. Bought a TV on line last year on Black Friday, delivered within three days. We were happy.

Yep, there's a VCS about 20 miles up the road at the VA. Pretty nice. Just no place to park being a VA and all.

Was wondering what happened to the Exchange. Every once in awhile they will have something come across decent but for the most part, ugh. And the selection. Even the Admiral 2 Star Upper Half when we are all together in SD says who comes up with these selections?! But still check it out from time to time and when I need something, just in case. And they do price match now.

  Waiting for pics! I might have an over under. Or 2. Or 3. Oh shit not quite sure how many right now and honestly time to thin the herd a bit. My first Side by Side came in today won it on Gunbroker couple of weeks ago. Came in too late after work to pick it up depending on the snow storm hope to get it in the morning. Came from San Diego of all places. 20 ga. Winchester 23 at a fairly decent price. Used of course haven't made them since the 80's. But had such a pretty stick of wood on it couldn't help myself. And the previous owner didn't shoot it much if at all.

Trying to keep it at a reasonable price point so will be most likely going with a CZ although would like a silver pigeon. A CZ side by side in 16 gauge did get my attention.

We use to go to 32nd St for caffeine and nicotine then they raised prices. I asked the person at the register and they told me. A couple years later they built the commissary there then had a big scandal between employees snagging meat on sale and the customers getting very little. After that we rarely went while we still lived there.

.... and that stock looks great. I'm not thrilled with all this "tacti-cool" shit. It serves a utilitarian purpose, but real wood guns stocks really bring it all together.

One of our wells at work, we took them all off. The well pump fills the tank and we have a pump with a return line thay pumps out to the system so the pump runs all the time. I wanna say the pressure stays a little under or just over 60 psi. It's been running for about 3 years now. Since pumps are made to run and not start/stop, we haven't had any problems with it. When the system did have pressure tanks there were 2 pumps that alternated so we took one, had it rebuilt, swapped it with the other, had that one rebuilt so we have a backup on the floor if/when it eventually goes.

CZ offers once a year discount to military and LEO's, I like them on that alone although don't own any of their shotguns. When they first came out with shotguns most assumed they would be on par with their rifles but was not the case. To this day some refuse to buy a Turkish made shotgun but that is their loss. They got it right and didn't take them long. They offer a custom build program on their shotguns and it is so popular that they are back logged at least a year now.

Boils down to what fits you and what doesn't. For me the Italian guns fit much better than Browning's with the exception of the new Sweet 16. My main target shotgun is a custom Joel Etchen Guns combo 682 Gold E\687 Silver Pigeon II. I like the Silver Pigeons a lot.

Went through several other over under guns first to make sure it was what I wanted to do. After more than 100k round through the JEG still wonder LOL. Haven't shot it in almost 3 years have gone back to hunting guns for clays to make me a better wing shot on live birds. And it is working. IMO you are on the right track

32nd St. and caffeine and nicotine I might have done that for at least 4 years or so... :)

Blue metal. Wood. It is art IMO.

My duck gun and I shoot just as many ducks as those guys that have to buy the latest greatest camo pattern.

I've found if you don't move and keep the pie hole shut it makes more difference than any camo pattern. And looking through my shotgun pictures I realize that I really am a wood whore. And make no excuses for it.

I am sorry I was trying to help him out of the dog house it is kind of cold out ;) My well is shallow the pump has a plug on it so I can just run a extension cord to it.
