Well, before i'd posted I checked to see if anybody did do a build and no bites. When i rolled up on it I saw a d4d tag, a small exhaust pipe, it purred like a foreign diesel, and i can tell the difference between a gas and diesel engine. From what i saw it was a legit build. It also had a special sticker with a company logo on it. The logo led me to this site. http://dieseltoys.com/2016-tacoma-diesel-1gd-ftv
Its my belief, he has the first or only 3rd generation diesel. It was a slick truck.

I wouldn't do it, :notsure: not my cup of tea... but hey people think some of the stuff I do is "retarded" some times...
Some people would say spending more money to build a 2009 Tacoma than what the truck itself is worth is retarded (I am not one of them, but plenty would say that)

In the end it is what people want to spend their money on. Back in 2003 I pulled a motor from my WRX with 200 miles on it and swapped in a 30,000 mile Version 6 STI motor and transmission. Plenty of people told me I was crazy for pulling the motor out of a brand new car but guess what I didn't care! Best money I ever spent on my car, I enjoyed it more than I ever would have with the stock motor. To each his own as they say.

So the owner has $80,000 invested in a truck that's worth $38,000,he better pray nobody steals it or he don't wreck it.

yep this happens all the time when people modify their cars/trucks there are plenty of trucks right on this forum that have $30K invested in wheels, tires, suspension, armor, stereos, paint and various other parts on a $32,000 truck. :) it is part of the lifestyle and passion of modifying vehicles!

It is funny cause inevitably someone will hate what you do to your car/truck, doesn't matter what it is, someone will always hate the color or the wheels or the suspension setup or the motor or....
(insert modification/model/brand/drivetrain here) no matter what you put in someone will hate on it lol nothing better to do right lol

maybe at around $12-15k USD... can buy alot of poor mileage fuel for $28k. I would rather a 4.6 or 5.7L swap
