Ok, cool. Since my 2nd gen just passed 300,000 miles tonight, I may not even notice much difference. The shifting is not always smooth anymore. What kind of mpg are you getting?

How many clutch replacements have you done in that 300k?

Better than I'm getting now, or ever have gotten.

2 complete replacements. Disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and slave cylenter. One new disk because it separated at less than 17,000 miles, and one throwout bearing sleeve because, the last clutch replacement happened do to the bearing disintegrating. I use my truck for work M-F carrying an average of 550-600# in it.

That's a good deal for 300k. I'd count myself lucky for that

I hope I have that kinda luck with my clutch. (Other than the issue at 17kmiles).

I'm at exactly 4865mi so far. And no issues yet with the clutch.

I have cirque of the towers on my bucket list to hike.
But I keep getting older ;-(
So maybe offroading the area would be best.

I wish BC was closer. Would love to spend some time on the back roads. Went through there on a family vacation years ago. Canoed across Lake Louise. Thought that was pretty cool as a 15-year-old from California.

Finally finished writing up the story of the De-Tour - an adventure that @Blackdawg, @m3bassman, @Digiratus, @Speedytech7, @drr, @IDtrucks, and @Glenn_R took some 14 months ago. Was quite the trip - so much so that we had to bail on the original plan after breaking Frankenstein for the last time (well, to date anyway).

Monte and I both wrote up versions of the adventure - it's a long one, but check it out. Good post-turkey reading.

How does that saying go? "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, ..."

If you've been a reader of previous trip reports, you may recall one of the craziest trips to date - The De-Tour - which occurred almost exactly one year ago (but that just finished writing up and posting). That trip was a great one for many reasons, but it had gone nothing like we'd expected - snowing or raining every day - eventually forcing us to abandon our Tour of Montana and Wyoming for what we hoped were clearer skies, in Utah.

...where it also rained on us.

Even so, it wasn't long before we started talking about "next year." And before long, "next year" was now...

Read all of chapter 1, and get ready for a trip even more awesome than the last!
