Went in for the 10k service today and added in a few request such as an alignment which isn't part of 10k service. Had a letter from toyota about the bower motor. Mine was still good but a free preventative repair il take.

Now the good part. Got the tranny software update. When I drove it in the lady that came up said she didn't know anything about it because it would have to be on a recall notice, she put on the ticket to check anyway and they did have the update.

All done and its feels quite better. Dont feel a dead spot between 1200-1400 rpm anymore. When I'm cruising at average 45, around 1200 rpm, and push the pedal a bit to pass grandma on the 96 camry, it actually accelerates. Before as I gave it bit of gas it didn't do anything until the pedal reached far enough and slapped you all the way to 2500 rpm. When letting off the gas coming to a slow then stop, it doesnt want to downshift immediately, it waits until your at like 20 or 15 mph to downshift. When I let go of the gas because a car was making a turn, for example, then press gas again it goes fine, no bog and jerking anymore. Only driven it a bit since I got it so it maybe be different with a few thousand miles.

I known I'm late to the party of the tranny updates but I thought I share my experience for those who still havent gotten it. Sorry for making you read all this if you did read all of it. :)

Good dealer experience at bob Tyler in Pensacola florida incase anyone is interested.

I have actually got the same update a few weeks ago also while getting my blower motor replaced. And it does drive so much better. To me it seems like they updated the transmission to ECT mode. When I tried the ECT mode there was no difference. Maybe it's me. But try it and let me know what you think.

I asked my service manager about the tranny update and he said there was no need for it because it is intended for those who live in higher altitudes? True? Or is he blowing smoke up my ?
