20181115_190703.jpg Wanted to buy a 4Runner Pro for my wife. After advertising it for MSRP I was told hey by the way there is "Market Value adjustment" of $6995.00. Really??

Shouldn’t be surprised, damn near every Pro has a markup if you’re located in or near a major metropolitan area.

If it was advertised as MSRP, always call and ask before wasting time going in.

Lots of dealers do this on Pros. You can walk, they don't care because someone with more money than sense will buy it.

A fool and his money are easily departed....or something like that. The fleecing of customers with these Pros is horrible.

I know this dealer, it’s just down 130 from me, the salesman I talked to didn’t know anything about the vehicles he was trying to sell. He didn’t even know that the 4Runner has the 4.0 engine

Why would you buy in NJ, when Delaware is right there with no sales tax?!

I love how the Market Adjustment is hand written. All new car Toyota Dealerships can print window stickers.

Welcome to America. Literally, the fact that they can do this is one of the fundamental things this country was based on. Don't like it? Buy something / somewhere else? No skin off their sack. Someone will buy it...thus a free market and why they are asking that price.

Where was it advertised at MSRP? I guess if it was a true bait and switch and you were led to believe there wasn't a markup I'll be a little more understanding of why you are upset. If the price advertised is reasonably close, like Pepsi advertised for $1.79 is actually $1.99 at the store, the seller is obligated to meet the price. If the price is way off, or perceived as a mistake, ie. $199 lease for a car vs $1.99 lease for a car, the seller can claim "error" and isn't legally held to the price. In this case, its enough money I'm quite sure they don't have to honor anything and can sell for whatever price they want.

That's not a NJ thing, only way to get a car in DE and avoid paying taxes is if you have a DE address so you can register it there as well.

They’re right down the road from me. They didn’t want to work on the price at all. It’s like they didn’t want to sell anything. I went to shore Toyota and got the same truck for 4K less

I'm from north jersey and drove to Del Toyota in Thorndale PA. It was almost 3hrs each way but I would do it again in a heartbeat. They were honest and basically worked everything out over email/phone before I showed up. No surprises at all. The dealers around me were the worst.
