Tell that to most prisoners then to prosecuters. I’m Sure they will let them go.

Speaking of which, OP seems to have disappeared on this one.

    Haha amen.

The amount of entitlement on this thread is mind-blowing. New truck!? What a joke. It’s a door ding. Shit happens. A kid dented my wife’s two year old X5 in the day care parking lot. Hit it hard enough to dig the thick ass BMW paint down to the metal. $2k to fix it, paid by the mother’s insurance. The door is still visibly blemished in the right light. Such is life. Buck up buttercup.

Edit: Also, I wouldn’t let a dealer “detail” my car if they paid me.

For sure... anytime someone else cleans my car, I go behind them cleaning all the stuff they missed. I'll admit I'm kind of OCD about it.

I have a friend that owns a detail shop that works for a network of dealers. I know some dealers detail on site but in this case. You drop your car off at the dealer. A stranger comes and picks up your car, one dealer is 15 miles away. A crew of derelict drug addicts perform the detail (granted they do a decent job) and then it’s driven back to the dealer. I know for a fact the cars are getting worked over when being driven back and forth.

I know. I was a Florida state CO for 10 years. Long enough to get vested and long enough to know every prisoner is innocent. I’ve heard it all.

They get $40 a car at this shop. Less than 2 hours of work unless it’s a big van or SUV. Not bad money for their job qualifications.

I appreciate you all reading my post. Like I said before, I simply wanted to vent.

I’ve decided to move on and not follow up with the dealer since learning insurance companies also use paintless dent repair for minor damages. As for the swirl marks left in the area where the damage/repair occurred, I’ll get over it.

I once had a dealer tell me they could not find my engine and asked if it was coming on a different tow truck. I did not panic, I told them the engine was in the rear and asked if someone more familiar with my car would oversee the repair.

People are human. Humans make mistakes. All one can do is ask that they take care of the mistake when it happens. If the tech parked the truck where it got dinged, that is on them.

In this case it seems they made a separate mistake bu getting repair authorization from the wrong customer. Had I been the customer, I would have understood the mistakes, and appreciated the offer to remediate. Only if the damage was not repaired to my satisfaction would I have requested the 3rd party person's insurance information.

That is what insurance is for.
