I got home the other night and pulled in my driveway and put it truck in park (obviously). It was parked on a sloped part of the driveway and after about 20 minutes passed, I looked outside. Lo and behold, the truck was all the way down the driveway and nearly in the road. The video will show it on camera. Has anybody else experienced this issue? I would be so worried if it just slid, I can just move it, but look at the back wheels, they slid and then began rolling. I you have any suggestions as to how to prevent this or what is causing it, let me know. I’m just lucky it didn’t just go into the road in front of a car or something.

I’ve never had this problem with a Tacoma but that’s also because I always use a parking brake.

WTF that's wild. Guess that's a good reason to use your parking brake, but that shouldn't be happening in the first place.

That has happened to me once! I had parked on slopped driveway and had my Ebrake on too. It was snow covered so I assumed it just slid down.

OP, if you continue to park your vehicle on an incline and not use the parking brake, it will lead to failure of the parking pawl or linkage. I had the same problem when I was in high school with my first car. Needless to say, after learning my lesson the hard way (my car went over a curb) I always use my parking brake.

The truck was still in park when I got to it, and it started right up. It is a push button start.

If it was in neutral it would’ve rolled a hell of a lot faster and farther. 20 degree slope and 5k lbs of unrestrained weight? C’mon.

That's why I always use my E brake , I will set the brake prior to putting it in park as this takes the vehicles weight off of the park pawl

Oh and being an old Auto club tow truck driver I've had many calls of auto trans vehicles rolling away unattended

my wife has a push button infinit and I had to read about it in 2011 ."Several manufacturers have struggled with ignition switch woes (GM, of course, the most notable), and abandoning the key and switch assembly seems like a direct route out of the woods. The keyless option introduces a new set of problems, however, with sometimes tragic results. Growing pains included cars that needn’t be in park before being shut off and therefore rolling (“rollaways”), and engines left running in garages because a driver didn’t go through the tactile function of turning a key to shut it down, and many of today’s engines are incredibly quiet. Six carbon monoxide deaths have been recorded in the U.S"., only reason I asked !! she had been in a hurry and hit button and walked away me finding car in drive when going to use

Imo it just slid down the slick driveway then overcame the parking pawl and started rolling. The pawl is designed to ratchet at speed so it doesn't lock tires up if u accidentally do it on the freeway and to avoid damage to the transmission. Wheel chocks maybe?
