What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

This is not my thing, but I find it amazing as a mod. Mostly because I would never think to do it, lol

 

I also have a stock tailgate skin and cap to sell, if the other one does not work out for you.

 

Not for my Tacoma but on my 4runner I changed the rear diff fluid after having to get an extraction socket to remove the plugs. Worked like a champ. Fluid looked nasty, probably hadn’t been changed in its 120k lifetime. Need to do transfer case and front diff next once I order replacement fill/drain plugs.

Also used corrosion X on 4runner frame. Smells way the hell better than fluid film, has almost a coffee bean odor! The HD corrosion x however just smells like sweet oil.

 

Finally mounted a full size spare. 285/75/16 in the original spare slot. Hammered the stock mounts and relocated the winch about an inch further aft to stay off the diff. Then cut the exhaust as most people do anyway. Loving the piece of mind and not having to buy a swingout bumper haha.

Did you use the steelie that came on the original spare? I'm running 17 inch wheels with 285/70/17 but if I buy a 285/75/16 tire for my spare it should work correct?

 

It’s a full spare. 16x8 4.5 BS SCS F5 on a Cooper ST MAXX 285/75/16. It will fit. Just know you’ll have to do some modifying like I did or you’ll hit the diff and the exhaust hanger

Yes it is. Why do you ask?

 

Then you don't need a spare lol. Load E on a Tacoma will spit out anything that tries to puncture it. I've run Load E for 6 years w/ Zero issues, I don't run w/ a spare, saves weight and gives more clearance for playing.

 

I understand and agree with you. But for piece of mind, I prefer to have a spare. To each their own !

Registration on the Tacoma on Oahu was $425 last year. We are paying for the rail project I guess.

 

I put mine at 32psi, as when I got them all 4 of my tires were at 4 different psi's. All the way from 40psi to 34psi and in between. I read somewhere where a 2nd gen got close to 50k out of his and he said he ran 30psi. But they were P rated.

 

I love that new tire feeling. Sure changes how the ride feels. I have different tires KM2’s and run them about 35 psi on the road. And go down as low as 10 psi not on a road.

 

Installed cryo treated, slotted StopTec rotors, paired with TRD pads (found a great thread on TW).

Installed hubs and bearings (got assembled from someone on here, from Hawaii)

Installed seat spacers (also, someone on here, from Florida)

Adjusted headlights

 

Just registered mine in VT and it ran me $726
