Also, got remote start parts for the truck today, should have it installed tomorrow

Yup. I mean, my 70-something mother will drive in the snow now even though she never did until a few years ago. Granted she has AWD now...still hates doing it but she's gotta get to dialysis no matter what

 

Curious to learn more about this and where the space exactly is.

My bathroom is above an outside access crawl space and that room gets colder than the rest of the house..plus I have pipes in there. Part of it is I need a way to seal the outside access tightly when I don't need to get in there..which would only be if I had a plumbing issue.

Correct. Heat loss, or resistance to it, is different from air movement.
While seperate, air movement/stack effect can basically eliminate r-value.
Reducing stack effect is huge.
Air sealing and insulating go hand in hand. Too tight of a space/building is bad as well. Need fresh make air make up. Especially with a non direct vent combustion appliance.
The additional rooms i want to foam above, are above a crawl space.
The exterior walls will be dense packed
Gonna foam the sill plate as well.
Finish the windows... should tighten this place up nice.

One of the first things I bought for mine, wasn't too bad of an installation, price isn't bad and it's a mod that actually gets used regularly, unlike some I've done.

Assuming she lives somewhere not too remote, get her on that Uber !!


Wedding tonight went well, it's cold out so only so many people willing to hang by the fire. Got to leave a little early tonight so it will be nice to go to bed at a decent hour tonight. Was outside from 2-830, walking around but not doing super physical activity, gotta love those flannel lined pants, kept me warm all day Only one more wedding for this season, hopefully it goes smoothly and I can get skiing

 

My original house is a square, with a full basement. The back room was built 30 years later, over a crawl space. There was no access to the crawl space, we had to blow through a section of the field stone foundation from the basement to the crawl space. If you needed access from the outside, you could always make an insulated access door that can be screwed into place to seal the draft and keep the space insulated.

The bathroom was mostly added on about 20 years or so back. Not sure what it looked like before really. Right now it's outside access only. No way to concrete it up and open the basement side up as it doesn't have a wall there.

If this is something you had someone do, I'd like to know more about the particulars..
