I've been dealing with multiple dealerships and found one that was saying they could give me a 2019 Cav Blue TRD Sport with oval step guards, exhaust tip, mudguards, door edge guards for $35,300. He wanted me to put a deposit down to hold it, I waited and it got sold.

He then told me he could get another one or a Barc red one and I said that would be good. I like the Barc Red. But when he sent me pics of the Truck, it had none of the stuff on it and he sent me the sticker and he increased the price to 36k. Now I'm obviously not going to do that.

But if he quoted me 35.3k on the cav blue with those extra bells and whistles, what would be a reasonable counter offer for the Barc Red without those bells and whistles? I'm new to the negotiating game. Any help would be appreciated.

Shop around get what you want. Give them the price you want to pay with the features add ons and color you want. Try to negotiate to it. Are you financing or buying out right?

It’s always easier to negotiate a vehicle that’s on the lot already. Ordering then negotiating is a bit more difficult.

Realistically a 700 bucks is only going to raise your monthly payment less then 10 bucks a month. Is this a 4x4?

Also the $750 customer cash that I see on 2019 tacomas, is that something Toyota offers to all buyers? Like is that automatic?

Those tube steps can be found on here or cl or the selling apps for way less then the 550 dollars from them you can get them for around 200 on here. I would go with sliders they are steel just about 150 more and offer way more protection. Mudflaps can be found on eBay or on here from way cheaper then the 156 the dealership sells them at.

I wouldn’t buy any add ons from the dealer to be included in my loan. I’d rather put them on myself after the fact for less then half the price. That’s consumer cash thing might just be that dealer my dealer never has stuff like that.

I guess I just don’t like what he did. I don’t really care about the options themselves. I just don’t want to pay more for less.

Agreed. You can always tell him I want the truck for 35.3k like the last one or I go to a different dealer. Where about do you live

If I made a counter offer of 34.5k for the one without the extras, does that sound reasonable?

Absolutely. Thats a good number to do with. Do the math ask for the add on price and minus the prices from the 35.3k and start from there. But the 34.5 sounds close

He already drew up the paperwork. Can the contract be changed if we agree on a different price? I guess I assumed him to give me the same thing. I’m not the best at negotiating. I live in Pittsburgh

If you didn’t sign anything in the finance office everything can be negotiated.

Ok cool. Thanks for all your help. I have the ability to pay the extra, it’s just that I feel like he was taking some liberties. I work Monday through Saturdays as this is my busy season at work, so I’ve been trying to get this delivered to me

Definitely shop around. I recently ordered 2019 TRD OffRoad Premium in Cement color, MSRP: 41170 for $37250, that's $1000 under invoice. I found a dealer who would rather move a unit than sit on it and wait for a right buyer. I had to put a $500.00 refundable deposit to secure it. Should have my truck by the end of the month. Can't wait!

I always go in with my first any only offer if the truck has something I don't want, I don't increase my offer at all. No need to BS. No back and forth .

I know you said certain items were omitted from the second truck, but you really need to get a print out of everything that is on the vehicle for a fair comparison. There might be some little accessories included that you are not aware of. Also, if they are intending on bringing the truck in from another dealer, where they are located can affect the pricing. Like say the first one was from a dealer across town and the other from a dealer 1000 miles away. If all is the same, ask the dealer to explain why the price discrepancy.

When negotiating, I've always found it helpful to not come across as a hard-ass or an easy mark. Just clam and firm. If asked a question, hesitate a bit before responding. And when asking questions, make them open ended that can't be answered yes or no.
