Long story short, I was in a thought alley and the taco found a very sneaky fire hydrant. Anwho wants to guess how bad this will hurt the wallet?

Ouch, looks like about 3500 in damage to fix properly.

Yikes... If it was just the door skin not as much but looks like you got into the cab as well! I am going to guess in the $4k + range from a reputable shop.

Yeah it got the cab a bit. That's what I'm thinking. Huge bummer, no good deed goes unpunished I guess. :annoyed:

A good body man/painter could fix that on a weekend for $1200 to $1500 top. I have bought several cars for personnel use as well as over 200 for wholesale and retail. I showed my friend who does this on the side and that's what he would do it for. He is one of the best, been the lead painter at Mercedes and Lexus dealership for 25 years plus.

Its a great price point. If I had a small body damage like that I would drop it off at his house Fri. evening and pick it up Sun. Perfect repair, no issues and I know it would be right. He has a spray booth and mixing machine right at home. If people look around it can be done cheaper and faster than any dealership or body shop if you wanna pay up and not run a claim with ins. co.or keep it off Car Fax.

There was a scene in the Bernie Mack show where the kid threw the car door open into one.

Had some similar damage on my rear passengers side by the truck bed. It was like yours, superficial but deep into the paint and primer. They said it wasn’t a good option for PDR so they replaced the entire panel, plus paint and installation. Cost the insurance company about $2,000.

A lift, oversized tires and sliders would have prevented this...

Ouch! It'll hurt plenty. I'm positive that it's go down as a comprehensive claim. You'll just pay your deductible while insurance pays the rest.

Just be happy it didn't turn out like this...

I hate that feeling when something like this happens.

In my 08 Taco I pulled up to a 7/11 and smacked the front end on one of those red posts. Truck had 2000mi at the time. Heart sunk out of embarrassment (oh people saw that) and out of having my bumper, skid plate, and grille all bent in a good amount.

Hope it works out for you!
