I always look at trucks just to see what's out there and it seems like 50% of them are salvaged. What really bothers me though is the people selling them claim that it was "very minor accident, only the hood was replaced, no frame damage, easy fix, etc. ", and they sell for them for crazy prices too. I have seen a few recently that want more than a clean title would be...... I don't know who they are trying to pass their garbage on to, but it's pretty lame. On a side note, i have always wondered what a standard cab would look like with the sport pkg. I kinda like it.

Having bought a few rebuilds I can offer this tid bit. From my understanding of what I've been told, some cars that get totalled in Cali (and other states but in this example it's Cali) should not have been totalled, but because of the outrageous labor rates, it is sometimes cheaper for an insurance company to total out a car rather than fixing it even though the damage is fairly minor.
I live in UT, I bought my wife's Carolla from Cali as a rebuilt/restored. I saw before and afters and really the damage wasn' that bad. At the time of purchase, it was 7 months old, had around 9k miles. What damage had occured was the hood, driver side fender, headlight and front bumper, no frame work whatsoever. The body shop also had a copy of the accident report stating the crash happend at around 35mph. Bad, but not that bad, but bad enough for an air bag to deploy, which from what I have heard is an automatic Total. All in all, the cost of repair was great enough that it was totalled out. The shop I bought it from had gotten it at an auction for pennies and fixed it up. They did an incredible job, we've had it for over 3½ years now without a SINGLE issue. All this at a measly $10k!! We may have gotten lucky with this one, but as long as you do your research on the vehicle and the accident it was in, you can come out pretty good.
But again, this is just my opinion and to each his own.

Idk about that tacoma, the bed looked extremely out of alignment, makes you wonder how the frame is

Besides of being Salvaged, I don't think that truck on CL is a TRD sport. I believe TRD sport should have the color matched grill/door handles and foglights. Never seen one w/o power windows/locks. My guess is it's a basic work truck that was wrecked and parts off a sport was used.

    Yup...

That truck doesn't have colored matched mirrors nor does it have fog lights either. That TRD Sticker doesn't look the same as mine!

    Ad is back up....

I have bought a couple of vehicles wrecked and had them fixed -
I bought my '06 Tacoma like that - I got a nice truck (like new) for about $15k (Prerunner SR5 TRD Sport D-Cab) but.........

I saw it when it was wrecked before any work was done, and I knew the guy who fixed it.

I am not sure I would buy a pig in a poke without knowing exactly what happened to the truck (maybe pics of it before it was fixed) and either fix it myself or have someone you trust to fix it.
I do not think I would be willing to pay a retail price for a car with a rebuilt or salvage title.

That being said, I have had good luck doing this - I also bought a Honda CR-V with 10k miles on it for about $15K - I have not had any trouble with it or my Tacoma.

with their high cg, a lot of 4X4s get rolled; this will usually cause a total loss. There is a place not too far from me that does nothing but rebuild totaled Tacomas. I haven't been by lately but they usually have 20++ Tacomas on their lot in queue and almost every one of them has been rolled.

He doesn't claim it is a TRD sport in the ad so no need to flag it. It looks to be a good deal as long as you check everything out.

The decals and hood do the claiming alone.

Regardless of that truck's history & original model in the ad, it looks good. Not saying I'd much consider purchasing for that price with it having a salvage title but that combo of parts looks cool.

If I put RockStar and DC stickers on my truck does that make it a sponsored truck when I sell it? It would be a problem if he said "REGULAR CAB TRD PRERUNNER SPORT FS."

Yes, if Toyota made a "Rockstar" or "DC" edition Tacoma and the labels/stickers/decals were on a truck that was not a "RS" or "DC" model then it is wrong. Second, he doesn't say that it isn't a TRD SPORT yet the ad implies such. Third, I am looking out for the buyer here.

Even if it does, it doesn't make it a TRD Sport
