I wouldn't be concerned by the number of weights used per se, but the overall total weight. Anything pushing above 8 ounces (on an off-road tire) I personally would rotate the tire on the wheel 180° and then balance. This typically drops the amount of weight called for.

At 2.5 ounces you're in good shape

Great thanks. And its normal for these tires to buzz or hum when upping the speed correct? There is a somewhat vibrating noise that happens, however nothing is actually shaking or vibrating.

    Too few to list.
Duratracs hum. Just the nature of them.

Yes exactly, aggressive All-Terrain tires hum due to the tread to void ratio. They will squirm a little bit as well, particularly when new, due to more tread depth.

Loving them so far. Guess the slight vibe sounds at higher speeds and humming is normal then.

Been driving around and can explain better the sound. It comes from the rear (where the tires with more weight used were purposely put in the rear, per the tire installer). Its like a constant oscillating-humming-vibration sound. So the truck doesn't vibrate physically, but the sound does.. if that makes sense. More oscillating than vibrating, though.

My advice would be to rotate the rear axle tires to the front axle and see what, if anything, changes.

so what happens when you rotate the tires and the heavily weighted tire is on the front.. with duratracs you have to be on top of rotating them.

take it back and have what i told you and discount tire told you to have done. pop the tire off the bead and rotate it on the rim and re-balance and see if it helps. or just keep posting here and live with it.. your choice.

I can live with it, its more me wanting to know nothing is wrong with the tire/setup. If its more of a "live with it or fine tune it" kind of thing that isn't doing any damage... then I'm good.
I may take it back Saturday and tell them its worse than it is and see if they try rebalancing them. But they may tell me to go pound sand.

Its tough... because these tires are supposed to have noise somewhat like I described right? Or no? I should say it only happens after 45-50 mph and at 60-65 it seems to decrease.

If the noise is a concern to you now, it'll really be a problem as you rack up miles. My duratracs sounded like mud tires by 7k miles. My 2nd gen JBL stereo was barely loud enough at highway speeds. Keep in mind, you didn't buy a street tire. It's an all terrain, but as aggressive as all terrain goes. There's definitely trade-offs.

Gotcha. By all means if everything I'm explaining sounds par for the course, I can live with it. Its more trying to make sure I don't have any defects with the tires within the return window. I could certainly live with it if I'm not doing any damage and it is normal. It not loud or overbearing at all. The tire guy also got it in my head that using as many weights as we did was not normal.

Everything seems normal from what you've described and 2.5 ounces of weight is common for an off-road tire.

    @Discount Tire Direct

So I was installing my lift today and took a look at the "problem" tire. I was wrong... much more weight than I thought. I attached photos. Should we do a tire swap or is it still good? Seems to be the sticky weights AND some rim weights?

Oh hell no. I'm on my second set of Duratracs. Had balance issues the whole time, could never get it right. Sold them to a buddy who put them on his 4Runner,no issues go figure. Well, needed tires and wanted to give them another shot. Perfect balance, drove 2700 miles to Colorado and back. Had our first snow fall last week and these tires are amazing in snow/ice. I just think they're hit or miss. I have the C range as well. Good luck.

7.5 oz spread out over that distance is way excessive. When the balance machine finds an imbalance it is at that point not spread out over 8+". If your tire has a dot on the side wall align that with the valve stem that gives you a benchmark if the placement weight moves it's a tire issue. Any agressive tire is going to be noisy.

Judging from both pics that’s how much weight is being used?
