You should not have to lower your CB if you have shims. The front shaft should be as straight as possible so you can correct the working angles of the rear shaft. The CB drop is technically a last resort. Shims are primary fix and the correct way

It won't be the tires when the vibration is at a specific low speed. If it were there was a tire issue. It Would be constant and worse at certain speeds.

I only installed because it came with the Dakars and seems a lot on here install them. Should I try taking it off and seeing what it does? Also, still am trying to find out if I should install the shims that came stock (on the stock leafs).

Yes, I would install that one first before getting new ones.

Shims likely didn’t come with stock leafs. The CB drop came with my Dakar’s too, but putting the Toytec 3 degree shims on made my working angles of the rear shaft ideal. You can see in the diagram only the rear shaft working angles should be adjusted and not the front shaft. Shims do exactly that E608527B-E0CD-4971-BA59-828470B9DDF1.jpg

So would I need new U bolts too? I got the medium pack with the "A" ubolts from OME. Marie from HS said you need the "B" for the HD's... so wondering if adding these shims also means longer u-bolts.

Hard to explain. Its like on an aggressive tread when you can feel the treads... faster it goes, less vibes. Thats why I'm wondering if its the tires.

I doubt you will need new U bolts if you are just installing the original shims or adding the 3 degree ones as they aren't very thick and your original U bolts should work just fine.

I would think it's a different vibration than the tires since is seems very noticeable at a certain speed.

Hmmmm not sure on the u-bolts because the shims are angled so about 3/8” thick in the back and about 3/16” in the front of the shim. The average between the two would be how much extra bolt you need...so about 1/4”?

I could swear you said you had Dakars. Maybe I read a past post wrong.

Technically you would need new u bolts, as every time they torqued it stretched the bolt rendering it weaker.
If you have enough thread showing now to add the 1/4 inch shim.... you could reuse them. Just be sure there is enough thread on the bolt for the nut to be properly torqued. And then keep an eye on them to make sure they stay tight.

by 1/4" shim, you mean the one that came with my stock leafs? Honestly, I don't even know if the main bolt in the Dakars holding all the leafs together can even accommodate the shim. So its a question of do I need a new main bolt AND u-bolts at this point.

I do...? I had HD then took a leaf out (3rd from top) now that I think about it. I did get new u bolts because it will be tough to get ol u bolts perfectly tight once they are off

I am not sure about the center pin for the leaves.

There is no shims with stock leafs. I’m looking at mine right now. Shims are aftermarket parts

The Toytec shims come with new center bolts too and they work

Some factory leaf packs came with shims and some did not.

What? I know the TSB was for new leaf packs that corrected he angle issues but the shims were essentially part of the leaf pack

OK, so looks like if I get shims (not from toytec at least) I'd need a longer center bolt, and new u-bolts. Man this adds up quick.
