Recommendation for Air Compressor

Thinking about investing in an air compressor for light use around the garage/house. Basically airing up tires, impact socket, blowing stuff out while working on bikes, etc. I know its all about CFM and go with the biggest capacity you can afford. Was looking at the Lowe's Quiet Tech 26 gallon, any recommendations?

For the “light use” you’re describing which is about what I use mine for, I bought a bostitch 6 gallon (165 psi) and have never felt the need for more.

I was more concerned with storage space rather than capacity. I wasn’t able to see the price on the one you posted, but kobalt makes a quality product for the price.

 

It's $298. Yep, I'm wondering if I can get away with a smaller one and save some money. I read alot of review's and discussions, the Kobalt Quiet tech compressors actually use California Air Tools motors as opposed to the China stuff on the others. Plus I heard its ridiculously quiet.

 

I think mine was $199 so for an extra $100 you get like 4X the capacity. Can’t go wrong there. Maybe look for a good Black Friday sale?

My only suggestion is , when looking to buy an air compressor, don’t be fooled by the advertised horsepower, or the size of the tank, if you are running air tools like grinders, polishers, etc.the higher the CFM (at 90 PSI), the better .
Any oil lubricated compressor that provides 12 or higher cfm @ 90 psi is suitable for medium duty use.

Makita MAc2400, it is alright for my small shop, very compact but powerful enough, the California Air is another decent one to look at so is Rolair.
