Well the link you sent me was from toytec. Headstrong is on vaca for a bit so wasn't gonna bother Marie. I was going to email all of the places and tell them what I need and see the pricing.

Only one way to find out. On my 2nd gen i had Dakars, CB drop and no shims and no vibes. On my current 2017 i have no CB drop but 3 degree shims and also no vibes. Shims are the better options. I wouldnt do both but taking the CB drop out only takes 5 minutes so might as well try with and without..

would it be worth taking it out and have nothing trying with nothing? Can't imagine that would help.

Whatever you choose just get steel and make sure they are 3 degree. I just like the price point and finish of the Toytec plus they come with bolts that fit aftermarket leaf packs

I wouldn’t replace them. Curious if some people change their wheel studs every time too.

You know u bolts change shape once they are on and torqued. Likely won’t have issues reusing, but any play in them will suck and peace of mind is worth $35

Well I think the question is will the ubolts accommodate the extra shim or not? Spey, since you have the dakars... and have personal experience with them I'd probably go with the toytec.

Just put it in perspective. A few weeks ago I ran the most potholey trail up by Mt Hood Oregon and some of these potholes were like 10” deep. The Dakar’s rode great (would have rode better with more weight in back) and I had zero vibes flying through it. I then pulled back onto the street and everything was cherry

Not a question on if I should replace them or not. More... do I need longer ubolts than the ones I have now with the dakars? I have the "A" one in the dropdown here. HD packs need the "B":

When I got mine from low range offroad ($8.50/apiece) I can’t remember what I got but they are extremely knowledgeable there

Oh OK so you got the "A"s... thats the one I have. Weird, because Marie said you'd need the "B"s which are longer for the HD pack. So with those Ubolts, the shim fit OK?

The HD pack will be thicker than the medium pack with shims. Here’s my setup:

Looks good. So just to confirm, you essentially are running the medium dakar pack like I have, with those "A" U bolts and the toytec shim you sent me a link to? If thats the case, all I need to buy are the shims... and possibly the ubolts just to have new ones. Its funny, that shim looks thick. I take it it added lift?

Yes to your first Q. Not thick because thin in front, 3/8” in rear (remember average of the two = 1/4”)
