Yeah I was leasing a ‘17 Subaru WRX 3/36k and at the 26/27 month mark I only had about 4,500-5,000 miles. A manual transmission didn’t really fit my life anymore. My buyout was 20,800 and Toyota offered me 22,700 for my “trade” and for money towards my lease down payment, msrp was 33,xxx and I forget how much the truck was discounted by in the end $308.47 monthly 3/36k. Included was bed mat, all weather floor mats and door sill protectors. ‘19 SR ACLB AT SX Package and the buyout is $25xxx so I’m hoping to come out on top like before. A lot of people say I should have no issues doing that with keeping my miles like I used to with my Subaru. Whoever got my Subaru got a brand new car. Haha

Just bc you paid 22k doesn’t mean you’ll have 12k owed. You’re forgetting the interest. You need to know the residual price that’s what you owe at the end. Also 469 a month on a lease? You might as well have bought it. My payments are 250 a month on a 4x4 doublecab sr5 with 15k miles per year.

Taco.jpg Leasing my 18 DCLB. Modded it too (2 inch lift, wheels and tires). Not sure yet what I will do at the end of the lease. Will decide later down the road.

Interest and all fees are calculated into the lease payment per month. My terms on my contract says 34k price, 22k paid at lease end with 12k purchase option before taxes and interest on loan.

Yeah, 469. Puts me in the good. I don’t plan to lease forever.

    I also said I get 14k a year. I meant 15k. Damn iPad....

Did you lease through TFS (Toyota Financial)? There is no way that you can buy that truck out at the end of the lease for 12k, 22k sounds much more realistic and at that point your paying 44k for a 34k truck.

Any regrets on a double cab long bed? As some would call a trail limo. I have an ACLB but not sure how much of a “hassle” a DCLB would be.

That’s what my contract says. Take it up with them. The price is 34k. 469 x 48 = 22512. That leaves 12k. I realize that after taxes, fees, and interest is factored, if I purchase, will be 16 to 18k. Might be as high as 22 but I doubt my interest will be 4%+.

Yea, thats about a 35% residual, typically the Tacoma has a residual of no less than 60%, average of 68-72%.

I might be wrong but am fairly certain that you have misunderstood the lease situation. "The price is 34k. 469 x 48 = 22512. That leaves 12k" is not how lease purchase option math works. Are you certain that there is a $12,000 purchase option? It is great if it is, but this seems way off. The dealership might have mislead you. You might call Toyota and ask about your lease purchase option. Or find your papers and reread it. Something seems off.

Then again you are on a four year lease so...But I would still look over the paperwork to double check.

Leased mine due to trading in my old truck and the trade in paid the 36 month lease and then some. Have no payments for 36 months so wife is just saving money monthly to purchase when the lease is up.

Yeah I have. And what I said is exactly what it says. 34k price. 22k paid at lease end. 12k purchase option.

Now, I elected to go 4 years instead of 3 and upped the agreement from 320/mo to 469/mo because the premise was to buy it. It took an hour to get them to let me up my payments. Weird. That extra 149/mo more than pays for interest, fees, and depreciation. If I had bought it, my payments would have been 550/mo. But if the truck is worth what it’s supposed to, I’ll be able to upgrade to an OR, or something similar, with 3 to 4K down instead of 0. But that depends on situation when the time comes.

I don’t have to take it up with them, you are either misinformed or have been lied to. You can login to the TFS site at it will tell you your current payoff at any point in the lease, and at the end it will be more than 12k. You do not subtract the payments from what the sale price was, in a lease there is a residual say 60% and that is what your payoff at the end is no matter what you pay per month it won’t change. I’d love to see the contract where it states you can buy it out for 12k though, because then you would have paid 0% interest and no fees or taxes for the entire loan, you can see how this sounds right?

Is the 34k MSRP on the truck, or does that include the 5k you were upside down? The reason I ask is because, and its too late now, but I got my TRD Sport for 32k, and was wondering how you paid 34 for a SR5 2wd.
If the MSRP was actually lower, say around 29k, then that of course would bring the residual down.

See, your residual is based off MSRP, so that threw off the numbers when you said purchase price 34k.

Leased my 2017 4WD OR with tech, tow, and katzkin seats for 4 years. Almost 2 years in but plan on purchasing at end of lease, so not worried about holding back on mods (that's my wallet's job)

I see where I kinda sounded misleading in a way. As Volt pointed out, my residual Is based off of MSRP which was 30,160, not 34k (MSRP + 4000 dart ding). At 60% residual, that’s 18k. But I’m leasing for 4 years and pay 129/mo more in my lease payment so I’m paying a lot more toward principle.
