    Hey Everyone,

So I'm making a new, separate discussion carried from my other post-lift thread I made the other day. Long story short, I did a 2" lift the "right way" (6112/5160/Dakars/ECGS Bushing/CB Drop) and being overly sensitive and looking for it, I noticed very minor vibrations from about 15-25 mph. Mostly while decelerating and coasting. Accelerating I didn't really notice it. I still don't know if its possibly my new duratracs and their aggressive tread. Other than that, everything seems smooth. I took my father for a ride and he didn't notice anything and I was making him listen / feel for it.

So it makes me wonder. The people that get vibrations post-lift. Is it super noticeable? Minor? Do some just live with it if minor? How critical is it to get it fixed? Just seems like a huge potential rabbit hole with trying shims, etc. Especially since I don't do my own work. I might have to wait a month or so to really troubleshoot things due to my job and my installers schedule and where he lives. If its just putting slightly more wear on parts then I wonder how much work and effort I really want to put into it. The truck is my baby. But chasing vibes can be a full time job it seems and honestly, I think I could live with it at its current state.

    Really Jewels?

Just do the damn shims since you have the ECGS it’s almost a garuntee unless your rig is whack.

Literally forgot I got vibes from my lift until I read this thread.

    That’s how much I care.

Dude, not being that guy, but you lifted your truck, if your worried about some vibes now your in for alot more when you have to replace CVs, diff seal starts leaking and all the other possible/likely wear and tear that comes with totally changing the geometry of your truck suspension and drive train, even if it's 2''. For most they don't care, they lift and they deal, but if your not willing to deal with it then you should rethink the lift. Soapbox moment.

As for you vibes, each truck is gonna be different. My 11 had vibes from take off to 15mph or so. My 15, not a single vibe after lift. I know with the 11, the carrier bearing drop kit helped.

True. My trail grapplers had a noticeable take off rumble/vibe whatever you wanna call it as opposed to my ATs.

Totally get that, and like tuning my old GTI I know you gotta pay to play. However with a 2 inch lift and not wheeling hard at all... I'm pretty sure that stuff will only go when I start really beating on it. Hope so at least. The 2 mechanics that did the lift said you do get slightly more wear and tear but unless wheeling hard (its my DD and being babied for now) I should be good. Fingers crossed.

This leads me to believe your vibes were worse than mine.

Mechanics were right. Gotcha man, sounds like your not one of the tons here who just lift to lift not knowing what they are getting into. I would definately give the carrier bearing kit a try, not sure if the 2nd gen is compatible with 3rd gen but here's what I ran and solved my vibe issue on my 11 with a 3'' lift.

Should have mentioned... I have the CB drop installed. Next step is shims. But since I don't wrench (nor have the space/time/knowledge) I need to keep traveling an hour to get it looked at and troubleshoot. So if its not that bad on anything and I could live with it... I may try for a while.

When I do go, I may have them:
Check the angles, take out the CB drop... then drive it. If still there, install 3 degree shim.

Sucks not having space/time, since the forum and youtube make it pretty easy to troubleshoot on your own. I would try shims next as well. Good luck.

Felt like driving on a light cobblestone road every time I accelerated or slowed through 20 or 40 mph

I put down 20K a year (40K now, 35K with lift), which is probably not as much as you, but it's likely your vibes may not be as serious as mine are.

I guess I'll give you a more detailed explanation. For me, the vibrations have become filtered out when I drive. After posting my last message and driving home, I had to actively try to feel them. At this point, feeling the road's imperfections is much more noticeable than the driveline vibrations from the lift.

Of course, they were VERY noticeable to me immediately after the lift. I suspect as your Dakars settle, the vibes will likely reduce, and as you continue to drive it, you will probably learn to live with it (since you said your father didn't notice it).

Obviously, your mileage will vary, based off of how OCD you are.

There are a lot of factors involved and most of which will be trial and error. Remove the CB kit and see if it goes away, look into some shims.

I don’t run a CB drop kit or shins and have no vibes.

    Fair enough.

What do you mean by “20k a year (40k now 35k)...etc?

I noticed a vibration post install of my lift. Only had the vibration on deceleration sub 15mph. Got the alignment done the following day, no longer have vibration.

Ha! Threw me off for a minute too, but pretty sure he meant miles driven a year.
