Photoshop Elements isn't bad for photos. Fairly intuitive and nice for beginners/amateurs. It's obviously not as capable as Photoshop, but like I said, good for beginners because you can actually figure it out. It's also priced nicely (it's often on sale for like $65).

I second the emotion for Lightroom. Its optimal for dealing with large numbers of photos, and doing crop and exposure corrections either individually or en masse..... if you actually want to get down and edit the pictures such as overlaying layers and stuff, then you need Photoshop, which can work with LightRoom.

my favorite full featured video editor is Vegas Movie Studio, formerly Sony but now a seperate company, I believe. I always had problems with Adobe Premiere which is the other big one.

Thanks guys, I'm a little torn on Photoshop vs Lightroom so I'll have to dig into those further, Vegas Movie Studio looks like a very good option (and is currently on sale) just glancing at their site.

photoshop is for editing one picture at a time with things like masking, cut and paste, etc. lightroom is for dealing with whole albums, organizing your photo albums, a comprehensive set of exposure correction but no 'dodge and burn' capabilities or other sorts of masknig.

i use lightroom every time I shoot with my dslr or mirrorless, but i rarely use photoshop anymore.

After reading this post and then this blog article Lightroom seems to be the way to go for me, I will enjoy having a good way to organize my photos because iPhoto does a decent job on the Mac but on Windows there's nothing there for me (right now).

    https://www.creativelive.com/blog/use-photoshop-lightroom/

I also went ahead and purchased Vegas platinum while it was on sale, I should get some good footage this week to try it out.

I'd say drop exposure just a taste and add some contrast to start with.

Composition wise, I would avoid putting your main subject dead center. I could only do so much with it, but to me this looks more interesting.

My first attempt at photography with a decent camera. Got a lot to learn. Hope you'll think these are worth a glimpse.

Ok, this is a really dumb photo, but I just got my new A7iii, took it out of the box, screwed on an 85mm 1.8, aimed and shot, and I'm already in love! No special settings (yet), no composition, and the pic looks amazing (to me anyway). I think this is going to be a keeper, lol
