Any chance you will make a plug and play kit that won’t include turning the reverse into Amber switchback? I’d rather just have the entire C flash. I know all your tail light mods always have the Amber switchback for blinker though.
I know I can just connect my own with the turn as tail manual, but I’d rather go plug and play instead of cutting up my wiring.

(I’m going to try to score one of your sets of tails tomorrow though)

I believe what you want then is the Tail as Turn version of this mod, which is also discussed earlier in this thread.

Yup that’s why I said I know I can do it with the tail as turn- just hoping for a plug and play solution. Factory connectors were mentioned here but when I inquired about the part numbers the only answer I got from that member who got them was that meso would be putting together a kit and this member declined to share part numbers.
I don’t mind paying an up charge for someone else to piece it together, but I want plug and play not the cut up solution mentioned here.

Sorry, must have missed that detail while I skimmed your post.

While I did the triton version, i was able to disassemble (not necessarily cut) the wiring connector assembly and reinsert wires to be able to reuse the connector. There are some pins, clips and rings that hold the wires in place and the connector together. You may be able to see that in my detailed post about how to wire up the Tritons.

    I think it’s post #458

@mesojdm anychance of putting up the connectors (m/f) and parts needed to make a pnp for the t-as-t mod in your diy product section like you did for the ect mod? I tried finding the connectors but didn’t have much luck

Probably the wrong place to ask but since I’m here, how possible to get a third brake light connectors? I’m interested in plugging into the trucks third brake light to power the truck cap third brake and interior light. That way I can utilize the dome switch and be pnp.

I’m just a percipient here, but I would think you would want the tail signals for the cap - tail/break rather than only brake. As for the dome light, wouldn’t bed light be the better choice? This way you can choose if it follows the cab dome or not... or just itself.

Doesn’t the third brake light come on when the lights are on anyways and then turn brighter when brakes are applied? Honestly I never checked but regardless if it didn’t it would still function as our trucks third brake light so I see no harm/foul

As for the dome light, I really want to keep the switch functional in the cab (left of steering wheel) for a true plug n play without loss of stock functionality . I guess I should of clarified that I would also make a second switch accessible in the rear/cap- most likely tied into the rear window (on when window is open)

I know more wire will be used but I’m not concerned about that. Thoughts?

    Hey, Folks.

Given the questions about configs and options, it might be helpful to update the 2nd Post in this thread to what will be offered initially and what might be offered down the road? I don't know if the OP is still following this, but @mesojdm has the 2nd Post. Then, it would be easy to point folks back to that?

I personally know that I tested prototype PnP harnesses that give a full "C" brake light (incandescent bulbs for now), amber turns in the OEM reverse light locations (incandescent bulbs for now), and a flush mount LED reverse light with no need to use a relay since the draw is less than the OEM reverse light. My harnesses came with enough wire to route the reverse lights anywhere along the rear including pods mounted to the hitch receiver. I couldn't be happier with the results.

BTW, (red) CHMSLs only come on when braking. They never act as running lights.

There are 2 configs, that I know of, that have been developed and tested at this time. @mesojdm will handle further development, production, and deployment.

I have tested, and still run, the same harness set-up as @tonered . I however, am using 2 led pods mounted under the bumper (pics in a previous post). I love it!! I also know of no other Taco running the same set-up in my area. The harness is perfect, it will allows you to use the non-modified tails with incandescent or LED bulbs, while allowing multiple configurations for the end user. This version would be great for those with aftermarket bumpers equipped with light pods, allowing them to use those pods for reverse.

@NoOne is using the switchback in reverse bucket, which keeps the stock appearance while upgrading the reverse and turn. With this one the end user still has the option to upgrade the brake/running bulbs or not as he/she may desire. This version would work for almost, if not all, configurations. The reverse and blinker live in the reverse bucket with no other external modification required.

We will all be waiting to see how @mesojdm brings this to market. There is no doubt he will have plenty of fans and customers.

It only illuminates when brakes are applied. However, @tonered points out something I was not aware of:
as I was thinking of trailer lights.

Yes, I just meant to use the signal used in the 3rd brake light (outer bed lights). You could add a second constant power to add outlet and swiched power to your dome. Make sure to diode the feed from bed lights. I don’t have a bed cap, but those are my thoughts.
