TRD Pro Exhaust

    Sorry to revive an old thread but I noticed something when looking at the pictures and the side by sides. So if you look at our stock exhaust and then go look at a TRD exhaust for a 2nd Gen, same exhaust just add a tip. You can see it's a high entry low exit muffler which means it's not a straight through design like the new one. Also the old one or our stock exhaust is made of Stainless Steel while the new one appear to be Aluminized tubing (meaning it's lighter but still will not rust) muffler is smaller and is a straight through design. I looked up weight vs Borla and the new system is lighter than Borla and the others by a good 3-5 pounds.

    So you get a lighter straight through design with the 2016+ and it appears the stock exhaust is a carry over from the old TRD Exhaust minus the tip.

    me personally.. (just my opinion) I think I would like my TRD exhaust a little bit louder... no complaints really just a preference.. I want to hear a deeper ROAR!!!

    Thanks that’s what i was figuring because they have the same wheel base. I emailed a toyota dealer and they said they couldn’t find one for the access cab.

    I have been thinking about getting the pro exhaust and TRD air intake, I had watched a video a couple weeks ago saying the two are engineered to work together to provide the best performance per TRD engineers

    I have both.. I like it.. sounds good.. but I rather have the MBRP dual exhaust.. looks way better & deeper catback growl

    Great thread, I just posted asking about exhaust recommendations..Was not thinking TRD pro, it might be the way to go over a MBRP or Borla. Price matters but not really if I end up not liking it. Better to pat once...

    Bought mine here in US for $460 during TRD 40th anniversary sale. I love how it sounds but NO WAY I would pay $1300 for it.

    Curious what weight are you running for your shift knob? Currently running 19oz (or 538g) along with the URD short shift and its good; sadly, my knob is long, so the throw feels similar to factory when holding just the tip. (Otherwise, feels great at the base of the knob).

    I've changed everything up, removed th URD SS and installed a Core shifter. so much improved!

    the Core does not like a heavy knob. and it doesn't need it. so I'm running light now with a Hurst ball on an extension. it's temporary while I'm waiting on a custom Delrin-Ti job. both are around 200g only. i used a 700g knob on the URD and it was nice. the Core is very tight & mechanical so works perfect with a lighter one.

    Thanks for the info and the pic!!!
    I started with Core but wanted to give URD a try (via price point and new to me); so far so good.
    If you take away personal preference via mechanical feel, what other changes from URD to Core do you find as a benefit, if any?
    Also, since I can't tell as your boot is slightly pushed down and your stick is wrapped, is the stick factory Core or did you weld/extend the length?
    Sorry for the wordy questions.
