I hear that the Tacoma will have a diesel in 2020.

I had a 2016......got totaled and recently replaced it with a 2019. IN my experience so far, the 2019 has been so much nicer than my 2016. Transmission doesn't seem to have the shifting issues that have been well documented in the 2016 and drives like a completely different vehicle. I don't have a howling rear diff like my 2016 did. My 2019 does have the tech package and I have been impressed with all the safety tech and welcome it with a teenager that is about to start driving soon in my household. Radar cruise control has been very convenient and works perfect. BSM has worked great, and RCTA has been very helpful...and I haven't even put my softopper back on yet. My 2016 getting totaled was a blessing in disguise for me. You will typically get to opinions on here regarding the safety package.

Those who wouldn't be caught dead with it and those who love it. My suggestion, go take a test drive for yourself and look at all the safety tech up close. I was in the former group who wouldn't be caught dead with it, but once I went and test drove it and used it, made the decision easy for me to stick with the Tacoma and get another one.

Weird considering its the exact same truck, Did you get the transmission updates? I have a 16 and don't have any of those issues.

I agree changes will likely be small or mostly cosmetic, but it is all 100% speculation at this point and we all know what speculation is worth.

Where did you hear this? Got a reputable source to drop? Because if not like I said above, 100% speculation at this point.

My dealer wouldn't perform the transmission update for me when I asked (don't get me started on this).....so no I never had it. Drove my 2016 for 2.5 years so I can easily tell the difference between how the 2019 drives and the 2016. 2019 drives the way it always should.

Thats probably your problem then, not having the update done. Crazy your dealership wouldn't do it. It was night and day difference. Still not as good as the OVTune but much better.

Not gonna argue with that. Tried multiple times to get it done and they kept telling me that couldn't "replicate" the issues I had so they couldn't perform the TSB. Sad it took my truck getting totaled to get the transmission update.

They may have all the safety stuff already in place working a little smoother.

Seems all the OEs are having typical bleeding edge hiccups with some % of the new features.

I don't even want a smart key, much less most of the other wizardry.

Any changes to the Tacoma are going to be minor, probably color choices and maybe the Snorkel will be available on OR and Sport

Adding to your Euro trip. Went to Ireland on my honeymoon. No police ANYWHERE on the roads accept for 1 small accident on the shoulder. Everyones tentative, no one was unnecessarily speeding around each other. It was a nice change of pace from Los Angeles where everyone speeds around the speeders, deputies on every corner, accidents every 3 blocks.

True nothings changed. Ridiculous post. He probably had different tires and maybe different shocks.
That safety stuff will be so out if date and expensive to upkeep once the warranty is out.
