Hey Everyone! Could yall help a brotha out. Im looking for a shop that is able to take my insurance check from my lien holder and then order and install my front and rear steel bumpers. I was able to find one place that was able to do it but will charge 20% on the parts ordered. That is over $700 + just to order from the same site as I do. The front and rear bumpers cost $3600 but the insurance write off was only $4300. What I don't get is why do they want to charge me to order the bumpers while im still paying for installation. I just dont get it.

WTF. No, hell no. They're trying to scam you out of money. They're already going to charge their ridiculous labor rate and make money. Now they're trying to milk you out of more. No thanks. Why won't the lien holder GIVE you the check? I'm confused.

 

Mark up on parts is part of how a shop makes money and is able to negotiate labor. The shop I work for charges a 25% markup on all parts ordered.

 

Lien holders want to make sure that the repairs are actually done to the vehicle. What they will do generally is ask for a completed invoice of repairs before releasing or endorsing the check. Which if it's not endorsed that can be a several day process as they will expect you to mail them the check, they endorse it, and then mail it back and they usually won't overnight it.

 

Any tips on what to do. Or would I have to dish out the difference myself?

Ah, gotcha. I wonder if one could go directly to the lien holder, explain what the plans are, and have them work with you on implementing them.

If You're willing to order the parts yourself then they shouldn't mark them up. With my company we mark every product up, that's how we stay in business. We have some people complain about the mark up if they go find the product after the fact, sometimes they complain about the installation fees. We have to find out what product is needed, find the product, order the product and once received store it and take it out to the job site. So, we have time involved.

 

Fml, can I still do hard trails or is it dirt roads from here on out

Bruh neither atlas on a Toyota is so unnecessary unless you’re gonna run a boosted V8 and 44s+

 

Probably have to pay yourself. Another option would be to see if you can get that check endorsed and deposit it in your own account to order the bumpers.

 

An Atlas is for people who don’t have the wheelbase to run dual cases

There’s a difference in overdoing it and straight unneeded

 

This line of thinking is how a refrigerator ended up on our trailer instead of a cooler.
