As far as I've found ARB and Harrop are the only options.

There’s not. For selectable front it’s arb or harrop.

Before spending the couple thousand dollars to get a front locker I'd take a serious look at what you intend to do with the truck. There's very few cases in which a front locker adds benefit for a mild offroad vehicle and lots of places the money could be better spent.

still in the planning stages.. other than the yokohama geolandar AT's the truck is stock. I just bought it 3 weeks ago. I'm working on getting the funds together for a CBI T3 front aluminum winch bumper with the Smittybuilt X20 10000lb winch... this is the first mod.. then will be the most expensive mod which will be tires and a suspension setup.

It would help alot if your vehicle info was filled out so everyone knows what you have.

A tacoma is pretty good offroad, I've been in many situations with just open diffs on my 1st gen and not needed anything but a winch.

Overlander vehicles arent exactly crawlers, if you have a trd offroad atrac should be plenty paired with the rear locker.

Winch can help in many situations way more than a front locker, I've used my winch at work and at home on different things. Winch will get you out if you have the right equipment

I'm debating it... my jeep cj-5 was in need of a re-gear with 32's, but with the manual trans 6.32:1 1st gear(manual trans), 2.03:1low range (D20), and the 3.73 axle gears.. but I also had a HUGE V-8 underhood with over 400ftlbs in a 2500lb vehicle..

the taco on the other hand has lower torque, slightly better gearing with the auto and t-case gears... I'll have to see how it drives with larger tires.. from what I've been seeing everyone goes with either 4.56 (if they can find them), or 4.88's (with 35's).. not looking to go 35's.. thinking more aggressive 32-33's with a decent on-road characteristic as the truck in reality will see mostly on-road duty.

What trails do you intend to run that would require a front locker?

Personally, I'd throw on a front winch and carry some maxtrax.

"Overland" trail names all begin with a capital "I" and end with a number.

I have the Harrops front and rear, the pair costs about the same as a pair of air lockers and compressor and is a simpler system with many less working parts. But as many have said if you aren't going to be doing much rock crawling the front will not be very required.

that is the plan, but looking at future options as well. see how far I want to take this.. my first mod is a winch & front aluminum bumper.. rear to follow. some full skidplates.... the stock sidesteps/rails wil last till their first oopps then they will probably be replaced.. the weight will be a large factor for me. trying to keep it down using aluminum, sythetic winch line, and being selective on stuff I carry on the trail.. it is my DD, so i dont want to overload it and loose all my MPG's (lol)....

Sliders are more important than skid plates. Your rocker panel is more fragile than your undercarriage.

I just want to point out that you ARE getting the correct responses....the responses you should hope for! These gentlemen responding to you know their stuff....period! They are literally telling you exactly what you are requesting. TW can be harsh, but THEY GET TO THE POINT! NO sugar around this bowl!

My advice....read, listen, interact....EVERYTHING so far is sound advice! I was the "front locker" obsessed guy until I talked to guys who knew MORE then me! Ha!

Dont get the front locker....spend on max trax, front bumper, skids, rock sliders, tires...etc....you get more use out of your money!

    Just my 2 cents:thumbsup:

If you are going to spend the coin on a locker I recommend regearing, youll use those gears far more than your locker.

The only gears available for the 3rd Gen with the 8.75" Rear is 4.88 and 5.29
