I checked out this trail on www.trailsoffroad.com and holy moly, the guy that made the video flies through that trail. I can't imagine how rough his ride must have been as his hood never stopped shaking and caused the video to be blurry. I doubt he aired down and obviously didn't really slow down... Nonetheless, if someone took their time, it looks like a nice, fun, and relaxing trail with some unobstructed views of the Sedona landscape.

Just watched that video you were talking about. The trail isn’t nearly as smooth as it was in that video (2016). It has been washed out a ton. It’s very rocky now and was decently challenging at times in my stock truck (my mud flaps almost didn’t make it lol). There was almost no smooth parts like you frequently see in the video. Plus there’s Sedona Jeep tours that go up and down that trail all day. We saw about 10 of them. Based on their rating system, I would say it’s more like a 4-6 now easy-moderate. But you’re right, breathtaking views the whole way!

You are talking about the back way right? Was this just the trail itself? Did you use all the bypass's?

yes, the backway. The trail itself has been completely reshaped by the mining operation and recent rainstorms. I can't tell you how many people on UTVs that I passed asked me if I seriously did the trail in a stock Tacoma. They all thought I was nuts.

The last time I did the trail, I did it in a stock Grand Cherokee and did not have to stack boulders or use a guide a single time. This time around, I had to stack boulders three times and needed a guide countless times. If this tells you anything, I started the trail around 10am and did not arrive in Crown King until nearly 3pm. And traffic was very light. All in all a great time, but I will definitely get my exhaust rerouted before I hit the trail again.

I had the rear locker on for all of the times I had to stack boulders, although it was less a traction issue and more of a lack of lift and protection issue. If you don't mind trashing your Taco or have full skids and sliders, you could probably bomb through most of the trail. Otherwise, you just need to be careful with the lines you choose and need a good spotter. Luckily there was an experienced group of Jeep guys behind me that helped guide me through the trail and helped me build some rock ramps.

The trail is definitely more of a thrill now than it was years ago. PM me if you are ever interested in doing it, would be happy to tag along again...as long as I have the exhaust reroute

Nah I mean it isn’t a bad upgrade and definitely worth doing at some point I guess given how piss poor the stock ones are constructed, over time they will definitely last longer and perform better over the stock ones, I just wasn’t blown away by them. The old lady noticed a sound difference more than I did

@slick7108514 Hell ya! I will be there soon! I did FR 220 in Globe last week and definitely pushed my "stock" but armored Taco to the limit! Fun and scary! ha!
Let's absolutely do it! I went to Scottsdale Muffler for my re-route! Awesome guys and good price! Well worth it! If I didnt have it done, last week would've ripped or smashed it COMPLETELY! ha!

Some other fellow TW members and I locally are going to hit some trails this saturday and sunday in the prescott area! Thinking Schebly Hillas I heard its harder due to the rains! But Im game for anything...just need to hit the trail!
