Start by going through the grommet.. I found this within 2 seconds of googling "2016 tacoma ditch lights". Think it's pretty straight forward this is the one I used to reference switch colors.

Guess I'm looking for a bit more detail on 1) Getting through the firewall 2) fishing it through the inner dash area.

In the vid he mentions using a straight wire to push through, but it ends there in terms of actually showing anything else about getting the wire to the switch.

    'Preciate it anyway!

I mean it's pretty simple dude. Wire through grommet. Push it through, feed it through, pull the rubber from the side what ever you have to call it to get the long wire through without damaging other wires...Again the helpful video I linked was found in about 2 seconds, perhaps digging deeper with Google would provide what you're missing :notsure: Although you'll probably find the exact same description. You fish it through... here's another video hope it helps. Where exactly is the switch you're trying to reach?

I guess that's where most of question was - if it's a portion of the firewall I can directly push through or if anything needed to be removed before hand. Switch is on the same panel as the cargo light and bed outlet; low and to the left of the steering wheel.

Gotcha, so you'll be using the drivers side grommet. Its pretty tight I'll give you that. I was able to get mine through without a wire feeder. I worked from the engine bay with my fingers until I was able to wedge some wire through the grommet. From that point I removed the plastic under the steering wheel 2x phillip screws and a good yank. Then I laid on my back with my head towards the pedals in the foot well. I had a third pedal to work around so it was an awkward pull but I was able to reach around the third pedal and grab the tiny bit of wire I had pushed through from the other side. From there carefully pull the wire through. Should be easier with an AT and only 2 pedals. From there look up how to access the switches below the cubby.

How sturdy are they? Do you think both together would hold 50 lbs?

They seem very sturdy. They could easily hold a hi-lift jack. The metal is folded at the bottom in towards the bed sides. The folded side sits down on the lip that is inline with the fender well
