    Stuff. Also things.
    Thanks, man!

Your experience with Marlin isn’t surprising. They took over six months to deliver my TacoBox after the last big redesign.

I’ve heard the same thing about the triples install! Hopefully the 1” body lift will help alleviate that a bit, which was the biggest reason I went with one. That’s interesting about the play in the shifters, though. I’ll be looking forward to hearing if you can tighten them up.

Do you have a build thread on TW?

Do the earlier years have a different cab floor layout or something?

I think the floor pans are pretty close to the same. The back outer bushing insert has a shank that's about a half inch long that i'm assuming drops into the floor like a locating pin. I could grind it off and buy the early trim pieces that cover it. It's not an issue of holes lining up they all line up fine. I also think, but can't confirm that the early center consoles are narrower which is why the lumbar knob just barely touches the console. It's supposed to have a lever, but that lever is nearly $30 and I don't want to spend that kind of money. I think there's a reason why Toyota went to a power lumbar in 01-04 and this is it. I briefly toyed with the idea of buying Limited outer rails for an 01-04 asumming they're not NLA, but that would be a huge gamble considering what they might cost and if they'll work. Another idea that came to mind was buying a set of junk rails off 01-04 seats drilling out the rivet welds on the back leg and weld the taller leg on.

I'm picky about interior/wiring shit it either fits/looks like OEM or it ain't going in. I'm better off at this point taking my lumps and selling them.

Nice, hopefully that'll make the difference but the connectors sit pretty high so let us know how it turns out. With every swing after the 100th one I thought about buying a body lift :infantry:

A build thread always seemed like so much work to get started. I started modifying my truck in 2004 and couldn't find enough pictures for all of the early stuff and gave up....that or I'm just lazy, lol :anonymous:

I drove my truck in 4HI on dry pavement for a few miles after I was on the beach. I noticed when I’d try to push the shifter back into 2HI from 4HI, it would slowly move itself back into 4HI from 2HI while I was moving. This is with the manual hubs still locked.

Is that something I should be worried about? After I put the hubs in free it was fine. It’s most likely because I tried to shift into 2HI from 4HI with the hubs still locked.

No it'll walk if there's drive line tension, you can usually get it to release by throwing your trans in neutral for sec and back to drive.

    Ah I see.

You can only shift to 4LO in Neutral right? I noticed the transfer case would 'lock me out' if it's not in Neutral. Had to use 4LO a few times to crawl out of a sand bowl.

Yeah it can't adjust the trans enough in park and there's momentum in any other position that it can't overcome without a synchro (which 4lo doesn't have)

It won't cause damage to anything if you use 2WD with the manual hubs locked, right? I assume it would become the same as an ADD diff at that point.

Not at all, just don't drive with only one hub locked

What would happen? Terrible binding I'd assume.

Nah, well you'd hear some interesting noises if you tried to engage 4wd on the tcase with only one hub locked. It just puts unnecessary wear on the front end and if you enagaged 4wd at a stop with only one hub locked you'd get no front power because it would just spin the free CV. It's mostly a precautionary thing to keep you from screwing yourself.

Took a trip up to the Oceano Dunes SVRA in Pismo Beach, CA over the weekend with @eon_blue @FLBAdrian @Sperrunner @Dalandser @zero4 and a few other guys.

Wheeling in sand is crazy. Had a few times where I thought I was going to capsize. Redlined the hell out of my truck trying to get up certain dunes that was a piece of cake for the v6 guys.

Yes, I aired down this time.

    DSC_0394.jpg DSC_0387.jpg DSC_0448.jpg DSC_0449.jpg DSC_0402.jpg DSC_0407.jpg DSC_0390.jpgDSC_0376.jpg DSC_0385.jpgDSC_0428.jpg DSC_0445.jpg

I'm driving along with @Dalandser, and we hear on the radio "You're F'n crazy Will, don't do it!" followed by "Come over here to see some crazy shit." We turn the corner, and we see @zero4 sitting at the bottom of a Witches Eye with a broken bead. I later found out the guy (who evidently didn't know much about cars) that was riding along with Will after seeing the tire separate from the wheel say, in the most monotone voice: "It appears we have a tire issue."

Originally, we tried throwing the spare on. However, we couldn't get the truck high enough off the ground since we were just compacting the Earth below us. So we used the ratchet strap method to re-seat the tire. Boy, let me tell you, the sound of a tire re-seating on a wheel is the most satisfying sound ever.

I ended up pulling him out by punching on the gas (and baking my poor potato of a transmission) since I was the only Automatic truck there (that wasn't stuck).

Had to pull out @Sperrunner twice over the span of ten minutes. Not from him getting stuck in a bowl or a dune, he was just moving his truck around the campsite.

    I guess that's why people don't lift S-Runners

Nevermind I looked it up. It's a little ways down there. If you're ever planning a trip up to northern California or southern Oregon and consider it I'd be glad to drive down and meet up. For it
