So by that logic, I should strap a backhoe to my truck, because that's what construction workers use to dig a hole?

    Hey, @tonered, @CBenfell, @RChristopherSven, @Flash_Adalwolf ... was my shovel a gimmick?

Look, is it the best hole digging shovel ever invented? Probably not. Is it the better option between your average $10 to $20 short handle shovel? No question, yes.

Just the same as the leatherman analogy... yes, it's better to have a dedicated set of pliers, screwdriver, knife, bottle opener etc... but I'd rather not carry every one of those items than one simple multi-tool, when I dont know which one I'll need.

This is an off-road shovel to throw/strap to your truck. Not a shovel to dig trenching for a construction project or plant arbovitae for your landscaping company. Take it for what it's worth .

    Expensive and worth it.

No complaints here. It saved my doors from some nasty drag marks.

It is also one beefy MoFo. I would have expected a lesser shovel to snap levering on that stump.

I'm still laughing at seeing Bert sprinting to grab it. Beaver needed to eat!

Yeah so just like I said it sucks at shoveling but is great at getting likes on Instagram strapped to your truck.

    Just quoting what you said.

“This is an off road shovel to throw/strap to your truck”

“Not a shovel to dig trenching for a construction project”

Bro if I’m stuck I want the shovel that guys use daily to dig trenching for a construction project.

I never said any of that. I had only one post in this thread?

Bert's murder spork (great name in my book) saved our bacon as did @Flash_Adalwolf 's traction boards.

I use a small $10 Harbor Freight shovel...used it countless times without issue mostly in recoveries. If I lived where mud and rain were more frequent I'd probably get something bigger, but for 95% dry trail conditions it works fine.

I've got nothing against the crazy beaver shovels, they ones I've seen and used did the job well and seemed sturdy as hell. But I'm not paying near $100 for a big sturdy spork, sorry

How would you compare the ones you've used to your shovel?

The only real advantage they have to me is their size, I opted for a smaller shovel to keep on my truck because in the southwest climate we don't really need one that often and I have very limited storage space as it is with the 1st gen xtra cab and bed rack/tent setup. But I won't knock on the quality of the Crazy Beaver murder sporks, they are built well.

I like how when @nvnv is presented with cases of people who actually use their murder spork he still can’t accept its a good shovel.
