I went down a youtube rabbit hole a while back watching people wrap their cars. You can find a ton of info there.

I know there's a guy here on TW that did it. It came out pretty good.

Here's one I found with a quick google search -
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/matte-white-vinyl-wrap.241083/

Edit: Have you seen the videos of the wrap contests? Those guys are fun to watch work.

I have done some vinyl wrapping on a center console. As long as you go into this project with the expectation that it will take MUCH longer and be MUCH harder than you expected now, you might be in the right frame of mind to not hate your life once you get into it. Not being a perfectionist will help out a lot.

I will say that it takes a new frame of reference when you figure out how you have stretch some sections in order for it fit on curves correctly. There will be a learning curve and discarded vinyl until you catch on.

like most others here, i spent cash on the 3M 1080 wrap and tried it myself. so I wasted lots of time & money then had to pay someone to do it right.

for the exterior you'll need a clean finish to adhere to, so if it's an old truck be careful with that mission.

That's a good point. And adding to that if there is any rust you wrap over the wrap can trap moisture making the rust a lot worse.

Prep for a good wrap is the same as prep for a good paint job.

And it's just as hard or harder to change jamb/underhood color if you care about details.

So if you are looking for a great finish, paint is still a competitive choice, especially to a full wrap.

If it's more of a workhorse vehicle, something like www.monstaliner.com would be my choice.

exactly. if I'm looking at protecting a vehicle with a degrading body, I'd look into liners and such before paint, and wraps would be entirely off the table, doesn't make sense. wraps are mainly for aesthetics and sometimes convenience (ease of removal).

Truck has a few dings but no rust or anything like that. No clear coat fade or dull spots, I just want to change the color without spending thousands. I was thinking maybe a little darker blue than cavalry blue.
