Just got my Go-Mag magnet and mounting plate for my pistol and I am pretty sure I want to mount it to the console about where my calf/shin is. Anyone have any experience with this? Tips/Tricks?

Not the front...the center portion...give me some credit.

I thought in VA, you had to keep the gun in a “container or compartment” and not out in the open. ie, in the center console or glove box.

    Virginia is an open-carry state.

I see. I did find this, however.

“As it applies to carrying a handgun in a car, the handgun should be clearly visible, not hidden from common observation, and it must be clearly identifiable as a handgun. For example, a driver may choose to place a handgun on the front passenger seat. Or, an individual may choose to place a handgun on the dashboard. In both of these examples, as long as nothing is capable of obstructing a view of the weapon, it would not be a violation of the statute.“

Something to consider as you choose where to mount.

Chamfer the holes for flat head screws and pull the center console so you can use washers and nylock nuts. Only takes a few minutes to pull the cc just lift up the carpeted floor to expose the two 10 mm bolts and unscrew them, unscrew the shift knob, if you have mt pop the cup holders and the remaining 4 screws underneath and the rear portion unclips from the front(careful with the plastic tabs) and the front section slides to the rear off the shift knob. Auto the shift panel covers the remaining screws. Or you could drill it in place and use jack nuts instead. The plastic is ~1/8" thick. Keep the bottom holes up off the lower edge as there's a wire loom just behind it on the drivers side.

I mounted mine there, there is nothing behind it and my Glock stays out of the way of my leg but hasn't rattled off either. Good semi-discrete location.

I always keep mine mounted in a OTW holster on my belt.

Yeah sure, but whats the deal with not keeping your carry weapon on you when driving?

Every time you get out to go somewhere you just leave it in the truck?

I would not use it on short trips, but, as a bigger guy, it can get uncomfortable on longer ones.

Seems like a reasonable place to mount the pistol, having it handy is the important thing because you never know when evil might strike.
