I got the satisfaction of owning one of the upper Nikon cameras that I’ve always wanted. It’s takes beautiful photos and I can make @My_Name_is_Rahl a lifesize poster of myself to look at.

Seriously though it does make beautiful photos with lots of details. Works great in low light like I like to shoot in. If you mean does it make me money, no. I did that a long time ago and really don’t care to pursue it as a job any more. I take photos for myself only now. I did do the website job a while back for those lawyers on the cheap. It paid back when I needed a lawyer to write a letter for me to a half ass company that didn’t want to do the job they were paid for. Funny how a letter from a lawyer can get some peoples ass to do the right thing. I only have this gear because I’m at a point where I can afford to buy things like that and enjoy using really good equipment. I’d never say that you need pro gear to take photos. You can take beautiful photos with lower priced gear. It’s more of the modes I use a lot are available by a button push instead of digging through a menu. I like to print big photos of something really cool and love details in them. I’d also like to get back into studio work and this would be the camera I’d select for that. In the end it’s just a tool to use. You want more features, it’s gonna cost more. Do I have to have it, no but it’s nice if you can. I saved quite a few years and bought things as I could to get where I am now. I could probably make it back using it but it’s just not worth dealing with most people today. There are very few out there now that will pay for quality work when someone will do a mediocre job for $300. Our hobby just isn’t what it was 20 years ago in a career standpoint. So there’s my .02 on trying to make money with it. Lol

So megapixels? What’s the deal on those? Are higher always better?

I remember my first digital camera. Back in 2003. It was a whopping 3.2 megapixels. And that was an expensive camera. I think I paid somewhere north of 500 for it. And I was amazed at the detail in the pictures! I still have this camera and it still works!

    3.2megapixels isnt sh*t in 2018...

    My nikon is 26 megapixels.

Maybe, what’s more important is the quality of the sensor. Think of the MP as buckets to collect light. Bigger the sensor the bigger the MP are to collect them. Meaning better low light ability. But what also makes a big difference is the glass feeding those buckets. All in all the more MP you have the bigger you can get a photo out of the camera. The processor in the camera also has a lot to deal with how it uses those MP also. Size for size you’ll get a bigger image out if a FF sensor with about the same MP as a crop frame one. Ie less noise/grain. The more MP can also detail the shadow differences a little better. Basically don’t go on MP alone to figure how good a camera is. A 12MP phone is great for a 4x6 photo but sucks at a 8x10. A 12MP Nikon D3 looks awesome at both.

Matters more on what you want to do with it.

With more MP you can crop more before you lose a lot. Like mine is a 36MP at cropping about half the photo I'm still around 16-18MP on the image. Not that you want to be cropping your photo's like that but just gives you an idea.
