So my third break light was leaking and I brought it to Toyota 3 times before they finally figured out what was going on. During that time (over the coarse of a year), the back of my truck has been subjected to water multiple times. Not just a little water, I've had puddles under my seats and the seats soaked. The break light is now finally being replaced as are the carpets but I feel like I am owed something as this will ultimately devalue my truck. I am in a rental now and since they part is back ordered I will be driving around a Toyota Corolla for atleast 3-4 weeks.

Check lemon laws for your state as they all differ. If someone got their truck bought back, they legally are not allowed to talk about it.

Why would it devalue the truck if they fix everything? I would certainly have a foul taste in my mouth after repeated attempts to get it fixed, but a free rental and replacing the carpet sounds like you aren't out any money

Mold, mildew, you cant replace the dash, headliner , seats , carpet, decontamination of bare cab with out interior. It's no joke mold and mildew are serious. I'd lawyer up and lemon law time. I'm my state if tthey fail to make a repair after 3 times of bringing it in or it's been in the shop more than 30 days the first year it qualifies for lemon law .

Do you ever hear of anyone talking about a settlement? This is what that is.

I haven't done it, but it would seem like this would be true. There is reputation to protect with auto manufacturers. It would be part of the agreement probably to buy back your vehicle if you just don't talk about it.

I think Lemon Laws might only apply for the first year of ownership.

    Why?

If it's fixed correctly no one, including you, will ever know it happened.

The key is making sure it's correctly fixed. And that means being able to observe the repair process, not just read about a list of parts.

Depends on state. I know in Maryland, its for the first two years of ownership and within a certain amount of miles.

Lemon laws vary by state. Look up the laws for your state.

They are not replacing the seats that have been soaked numerous times with nasty rain water. Replacing the carpets will not be the same as coming from the factory after scraping up the old ones.

Way, WAY too many keyboard lawyers on this forum……

Probably the first to blame someone else , or beg for forgiveness, when they screw-up.....

Get your truck fixed and move on. Life is too short to worry about how to cash in on being a victim.

Aren't all my the trucks records kept on file at Toyota? If I purchased a truck I wouldn't go for one I knew the cabin had been flooded numerous times.

What do you mean "scraping up the old ones"? They aren't glued to the floor.

This isn't a Hyundai, this is a 40k truck. I didn't buy it to constantly bring it to a shop.

Well that's a complaint for corporate. Because even if a buyback were to occur, the dealer isn't gonna be doing it anyway.

I disagree about the carpet, but certainly understand your seat complaint.

Cars are not expected to be perfect. If they in good faith diagnos and fix a problem you are not generally considered to have been additionally harmed.
