Let me start by saying, I was going to start this thread with “WTF I DON’T Have An Alarm”

To make a long story long, here it goes. A few months ago I “lost” my second key and looked everywhere, couldn’t find it.

Went to the Toyota Dealership to get a new one, they quoted me $400 for the new key and to program it. Of course, I said “Fuck That” (under my breath) and walked out. I’m doing this myself.

So, I did my Due Dillegence and searched online extensively and found the exact Toyota H chip key and the OBD reprogrammer for $40 total.

Received everything in the mail. Just went to the hardware store and they cut the new key for $10 and it works in all the locks and the ignition.

Here’s where I start drinking a bunch of beer. Not because it’s Tuesday, but because this Chinese piece of shit $15 programmer doesn’t work.

I’ve tried every which way until Tuesday to program my new key to unlock the doors and set the alarm. Doesn’t program. More beer.

More beer gets me thinking, “do I even have an Alarm?” Really I’ve never heard it go off. Of course the new key doesn’t set the alarm, but sure enough I can get the alarm to go off after locking the doors with the original key.

Here’s the issue, I can lock the doors and set the alarm with the original key. Then I use the new key (that’s not programmed) to manually unlock the door and the alarm doesn’t go off. But, the alarm goes off if I just open the door from the inside.

WTF. I need more beer and really have no idea why I started this thread. Except to say there’s some Fuckery going on.

Mine does exactly this.....lock it / set the alarm with one key and open it with the 2nd key, no problem......open it from the inside, alarm goes bonkers.

I don't think anything's messed up on yours

Probably not. Just can’t program the new key to unlock the doors and set the alarm.

What’s weird, is the new programmed key deactivates the alarm which doesn’t go off when I use this new key to “manually” open the doors.

Exactly. It’s parked in the garage. The worst thing is I lock myself in the truck with the beer.

Theft deterrent. Lock door with windows rolled down, someone reaches in and opens door. Or breaks window and does the same thing.
Wouldnt call it a real alarm.

I dont know if I have an alarm..... I lock it and open from the inside and nothing goes off. I lock it and only unlock door with the key, not the button on the key then open and still nothing. Only thing that makes the horn go off is that panic fucking button

Yeah that’s what I did, not sure if it’s the alarm. If I lock the doors with my original key remote from the inside and open the doors, nothing happens, no alarm.

Ha! Yeah, you will need an adapter of some sort. For uploading software to the ECU, you want the pricey Tactrix cable. For tasks like this, I thing you can get away with a low rent tool, WiFi or BT.

Sober up and get the steps nailed down before you click the Buy button. Hahaha! :drunk:
